So as I have two engines to remove and one to put back in I think its time to invest in my own stand.

Seen this on ebay for the engine hoist

And this for a stand

Anyone got any experience on this and do they look sufficient for the job ?

Also will be needing a way to transfer the engine down the garden path and into my hut.

Can a zed engine be lifted by hand with two people just to transfer it onto a trolley to move it ?

The Car club I belong to at work have these and they are a great bit of kit for the money and a wise investment. As for the lump, yes a two man lift will safely move it onto a trolley, however, once you have the crane lift, you can transfer the lump easier.

The only issue is that they are a big bit of kit to store if you are not using them often or don't have the space.

I've an older version of that hoist, lifts the engine fine, although on mine the wheels are a bit flimsy. Hard to move with the engine attached. Looks like they have moved the wheels slightly now so hopefully they've overcome that issue, perfectly good for occasional use.

Yeah, good point. On my engine stand I changed the wheels to larger heavy duty casters, mainly because my concrete garage floor is not the smoothest; cheap modification and all is well.

A bit overkill on the stand, our engines about 250kg so dont need it so big, but if you have the space then go for it. I bought one a few years ago and agree, the wheels on both the stand and hoist do make it hard to maneuver on rough concrete, i wished they used heavy duty rubber castors, like on flightcases :thumbup1: but i guess if the engine is on the stand for some time, then it would create a flat spot making it harder to move lol

Pistons like to go on the cheap ones and they are non re-buildable so needs a replacement. But if it does go and the place you bought from wont replace it you can buy a good one yourself and pop it in.
