Hello,

I have thick black smoke from the exhausts, in a pretty constant stream when driving. i also have overheating issues, there is no middle ground with that, as in the car starts, warms up and then keeps going till the water comes though the pressure relief valve on the water cap.

thus far my plans are to replace the radiator with [http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=55&category_id=66&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7], which i dont mind doing cause im slowly want to upgrade parts and clean the car up, reason for changing the radiator is because the water pump has been changed, head gaskets done and the thermostat and temp sensor have been checked so i assume there is a blockage somewhere.

next step, take engine out and look at possible changing the piston rings and check other seals for the smoke issue, as the turbos were clean and in good condition when the engine came out for head gasket trying to solve the over heating issue.

so my real question is

#1 is that radiator recommended? and is there anything else i should be looking into for the over heating, besides head gasket, sensor, water pump and thermostat

#2 pulling the engine out is a big job, so before i do that again is there anything else i should look into first?

thank you!

Overheating and black smoke. That's an interesting one. I recon you could have more than one fault there. Black smoke is most likely to be overfeuling. You say it's over heating, what's the indication of this? Stock gauge? When did this start? Have you changed anything? I think you need to get it hooked up to consult and do some old school diagnostics to check the basics. It doesn't sound great. Check the temp senders as well. A faulty ecu temp sender can cause all sorts of issues.

In the first line, [ warms up and then keeps going till the water comes though the pressure relief valve on the water cap.]
