just got off hone from Lee

he broke down on way to NEC, pulled onto hard shoulder or side of road.

went looking on foot for road or place name to give RAC

while gone, car was hit by a lorry, and is a write off, but he hasnt seen it yet

luckily had a witness as lorry drove off, witness found Lee down the road and they chased down the lorry and stopped him then called police

police dealing with him now and hopefully they will take him back to car 2 miles back up the road so he can see it

very lucky that he was not in the car and that he is alright.

he will post when he gets a chance to

What a sad sight :( glad your ok and you've managed to catch the idiot that done it. How can you hit a car like that and drive off?! Not think "shit, someone could be in there and badly injured now, i better stop as its the right thing to do."

Stupid driver, I hope he gets what he deserves.

Shit the bed Lee - I am so gutted for you mate. Glad you were not in the car and are OK though - but just gutted. After all the work you put in, you'd have done us proud at the NEC....

And as the w@nker driving off - that boils my piss. I am so pleased that there were witnesses; I hope the police throw the book at him.....

I wish you all the best in getting it sorted out.

I don't think I've ever seen you swear on here before...

So sorry to see this mate I'm off to the show tomorrow and would have loved to see your zed I love purple ones. Also I'm a lofty driver and as it was the front wheel that hit your car I can't see how he can ever say he didn't know he hit it, I'm surprised that the impact didn't rip the wheel out of his hands and do even more damage. He will probably only get a fine and five points for leaving the scene.

Words fail me mate. I know how gutting it is to loose a zed. But to have that happen...

Glad your ok, shows the danger of staying near a car on the hard shoulder hope they throw the book at the git a very large one. Nice to know there are still people wiling to help.

Sorry to hear this mate, hope it can be put right. Not sure how id react in same situation but id probably get locked up after seeing all the hard work destroyed by some cxxt like this

Mate, I'm absolutely speechless.

I feel absolutely sick to my stomach for you and all your hard work and effort.

I don't believe in praying but for this I am praying the f**king c*** that did this gets what he deserves from the old bill and from a gang of thugs with iron bars!

I am stunned to see a beautiful Zed damaged like this. And thank fck you weren't in it. It sounds like the lorry driver wasn't concentrating or may have been tired, weaving onto the hard shoulder. I hope he gets the book thrown at him! From a great height!

I've been thinking about this since this early hours of this morning when I heard about it and still have no idea what to say. I dread to even think how I'd be feeling if I was in your shoes [emoji855][emoji852]️[emoji35][emoji30][emoji27][emoji33] emotional roller coaster no doubt. Hope you're ok Lee.

So sorry Lee! I've only picked up on this incident after reading the NEC thread and wondered why your car wasn't on the stand (figured the electrics again). So many of us have followed your build it feels like an old friend has left us!. Just so glad your OK!

Early days, but I hope you can salvage some of the car and refocus to have another go, there's no doubt this was an epic build...Go luck to you.

My assessment of it for repair would need the following :

full rear quarter

rear sill

door (if we can get it off as its jammed shut with the impact)

right wing

side skirt

19" alloys and tyres

rear suspension looks damaged

back axle and everything connected to it looks twisted and the far left wheel has moved out a 1/2 inch.

then the cost of another respray of which is almost 1/2 of the car which initially cost me £2500

That's brutal to see, Lee! I'd expect it to be a write-off based on that shopping list. :(

What was the wagon driver's reaction when you chased him and got him to pull over? And when the police turned up?

You said he didn't speak much English, but was he in a foreign wagon?

Then if they do put it back on the road it will likely have a permanent mark on its history as a right off.

I likely wouldn't trust it myself so I hope the insurers agree and give me what's due.

Looking at that rear quarter mate they will write it of. My black Z had only a minor hit at the rear quarter and they wanted to write it of and it was only me insisting they fix it that its still on the road today. But you would not feel right if yours was fixed up again.

Have you hot an agreed value, or do you now have to deal with all that nonsense?

The more pictures I see, the more gutted for you I am mate - so sorry this happened after all the hard work and patience you've put in :(

Absolutely mortified such a stunning example destroyed, but from every negative comes a positive, you are safe and alive you can thank your lucky stars for that we have all had cars come and go some are harder to lose and i wouldnt want to be in your position right now

Can't believe this mate. I'm really sorry. On a plus note, I'm soooo glad you got out of the car when you did.

So, was it actually the driver that hit your car that stopped and asked if you were okay?

I feel for you dude and glad to know your ok. But it's a shame that people have no respect for anything else besides themselves. Good thing is atleast you caught the pinche maricone. I know how it feels even though my car wasn't a show car it still hurts beyond feeling which is a good thing in a way because you remain positive/optimistic about getting it fixed or replaced amd not emotionally in a state of anger. Depending on the extent of the damage you could get it fixed yourself and claim the cost back from the insurance which will save it from being categorized or written off. As in my case but it will be going as a claim against my insurance as no one was ever found which is another puta to deal with.

As for the door. Try opening it from the inside. 8/10 times it usually works. If not lift the door handle with force from the outside. Mine wouldn't open from the outside and had to use force and pry it open them had to hamme the sill back as it was wedged into the door. Then after adjusting the internal parts got it to open from the outside again. Don't know why but a hit even not directly to the door always causes the door to not open from the outside. Not sure if anyone else has had this issue.

All the best pal.

After the news of the guy in the States in his zed....puts it all into perspective. Glad you're ok mate

Glad no one was hurt. So completely and utterly sorry this happened after all you've been through getting this car how you wanted it. Hope the insurance pays out top money for you and your zed dream lives on in another car

Truly gutted for you fella. As Joely said, I dread this sort of thing happening to my z!

I truly hope you had an agreed value insurance policy with all the work you put in to your car.

I wish I could provide some inspirational words for you, but I just can't summon them at the moment
