Hi All, I will be picking up a recent import 300zxTT soonest, I understand it has a great Pioneer multifunction system installed that's worth a few quid, BUT its obviously still in Japanese. Do any the lads know if I can switch this to English instruction's etc and get the sat/nav/DVD player to work in the UK? Any advice would be welcomed, Cheers!

If it's coming from Japan, it's likely branded Carrozzeria. It is unlikely as head units are generally region specific, especially if it's Carrozzeria which is specific to the Japanese market only. The best thing to do is to take down the serial / model number and contact Pioneer UK. They might be able to add UK/Euro maps, but I am not too sure whether they'll be able to reprogram it to read in English. Expect to pay a lot of money though.

Your right mate. Pioneer say it's region specific all but the Sat/nav should be OK. Will play with it and see what I c as n figure out myself, cheers man.

When I used to have a Nissan 350GT, I had the satnav & Audio system switched to English from Japanese. The company I took it too in the North Midlands basically just removed software and reinstalled an English version. I can't remember what the company was called as it was 12 years ago, but maybe this can be done with the Carozzeria units - after all they are all software driven...

The HD and system software are the same as the 350Z units and as such can be re-programmed so it's fairly straight forward.

This may not be that useful but as I understand it it's pretty easy to get these sorts of units to boot to their OS where you can then install whatever you want. I have an old Pioneer F30BT that just runs Windows CE under the hood, so I can't see why it couldn't be done by someone with a bit of know-how to just swap in the relevant files it needs or reinstall a different version of the software.

OK, that's encouraging, thanks, need to research who can do the possible sw upgrade then? Pioneer UK were cool but basically said sorry, but no help here. Thanks all :-)

My tuppence worth - for all the aggravation and potential cost of updating the system to work in the UK, you might find it only a few pounds more to purchase a whole new head unit with sat nav, blue tooth etc, all built in.....

......You can get some good deals online at the moment mate; and you'll have a brand new unit backed up with a guarantee, that you know will work 100%!

Some of these stereos are £1000 though so depends what it is as to whether it's worth it. I got my old one second hand for £260 and considered that a bargain, and its showing it's age, so if you want a decent one these things aren't cheap!
