The time is approaching that I need to replace my tyres.... (the tyres on at the moment came with the wheels I purchased last month)

The wheels are the 18" staggered ones from a 350z ( I believe they are the touring model?)

My question is, what would be the best tyre size to replace the current 225 45 18 at the front and 245 45 18 at he rear? I feel that the profile is too big at the mo and was thinking maybe either 40 or 35 all round? If so, would that cause any issues with the wheels? also, the fronts currently look to have a little stretch on them and whereas the rears don't? In my opinion the fronts look a little nicer but I'll open it up to suggestions..... here's a pic of the wheels anyway.....

Your thoughts are dead right mate.....

......As long as the wheel width will take it, go for 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear. If not, then 225/40 and 255/35 will suffice. Both will be closer to the original rolling radius of the stock set-up than you have now....

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

So, am I ok to go for a wider width? wasn't sure as I've only ever had standard tyres on my other cars.... I know I want to lower the profile but will the wider tyres look right and fit right or will they kind of over hang the wheel?

I get that the wider the tyre, the better the grip.... the wheels that were on the car originally had a set of 235 40 18 on the font and 265 35 18 on the rear but the wheels were buckled badly which was the main reason I changed them

What widths are those 350z wheels and what are the offsets? I didn't think those wheels themselves are staggered?

I'll be honest Si, I'm not sure. I've looked on Wikipedia and it looks like they only ever made them 8.0. They were sold on ebay as staggered which at the time I believed to be the tyre size?

No idea why that repeated then! Stupid computer!

They're manufactured by Rays, so the widths should be stamped on the back of the hub face or one of the spokes on the inside. Imagine they are 8" in which case, I wouldn't go any wider the 245, in fact on an 8", I'd probably shoot for a 235. 45 profile is waayyy too tall. 40 is borderline.

When I selected the tyres for my Z, I actually went for equal profiles and it looks more balanced. I was running 35 front and 30 rear, but now I just run 30 all round. I'd suggest keeping tyre sizes the same since your wheels are equal widths on all 4 corners. I'd either fit 235 35 18 all round or, at a push, 245 35 18.

Would 235 be abit slim for the rear though? I'll be honest, never had aftermarket wheels on any of my cars before so always fitted the factory sizes as a replacement.

I suppose the 235 should look abit nicer as they will have a slight stretch?

These are off the standard uk 350z, not Ray's as far as I know

18x8 et30 all round

A 235 40 all round should work well

Thanks, think that is what I'll go for... just looking at getting a set of Continental SportContact 5's. Should be much better than the mismatch I have on now!

Yeah those arnt the Rays ones. Surely the wheel width is on the rear face of the wheel with the offset as well.
