The bolt? There's two bolts that control the tension of the belt then a mounting bolts. The bolt running from left to right controls tension, the one going front to rear secures this. Check the tension of the belt. Once your happy with the tension then do up the securing bolt. I don't think that's your PS belt though I'm afraid.

If you really wish to isolate the belt noise, then remove them and run the engine. The battery won't charge like this and you will have no PS, aircon or cooling etc, it's just for testing for a very short period. 10 seconds maybe.

Tbh you should be able to work out where the noise is coming from without using this method. You could use some hairspray as well, it will stop each belt individually squealing temporarily. As I say though I don't think it's a loose belt.

It's not the belt that's squealing, as i loosened it and i got a different squealing noise! The securing bolt has no nut on it, could this cause enough vibration to make that noise? It's almost like a whistling noise!

Unlikely to be a cam pulley, but tensioner or roller bearing in the centre, as Stephen suggested to eliminate the PS, AC and Alternator, take the belts off, which then only leaves the cambelt, easier to isolate where its coming from.

How do i get these off, does it involve removing water pipes and such?

Have you checked the fan rubbing on the cowling?

Or could be the clutch from the fan?

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Looks fine, don't know about the fan clutch, how would i check it?

more of a drone .. disconnect the belts .. run the engine for few seconds see if it does it then .. least u can rule out alt/water pump/AC/PAS

Unfortunately mate, it does involve taking the water pipes off to get the cam covers off, however, its not common for a bearing to completely fall apart and bugger up the belt, more of an annoying noise till you get it sorted. likely dry ( if it is a bearing)

Ok, now that the birthday is out of the way i can get back to the important stuff! Spinning the alternator pulley it feels smooth enough but only spins for about 3 - 4 seconds and i can hear little particals floating about in there (only quiet but they are there!) is this the likely culprit?
