It's certainly a reasonable price if they do a good job, although would the £400 be better spent put towards an upgraded brake setup? New pistons may be OTT and would drive up the price, they would only need replacing on condition and the seal kits are relatively inexpensive. With the work you have done, I'd say it's well within your capability to refurbish the calipers yourself and save some money, spending it elsewhere or putting it towards eventually going for a different brake setup. They can look perfectly respectable with a carefully applied coat of paint from a rattle can.

Saying that, if you're happy to keep the OEM calipers and want to stick with them, at least you will have a nice durable finish and can fit and forget, knowing that that part of your build is finished.

That's what I was getting at Joel, I reckon you could pick up an upgrade set like GTR's etc for close to the £400 cost of refurbing a standard set. You could then sell your standard set to the 180sx guys for £200 which would nearly cover a refurb on your upgrades if need be.

Just a thought:thumbup1:

Hold off for a couple of days Lee, I might be able to sort something out for you regarding GTR calipers and disks:whistling:

Yours are the cast iron calipers which to me were a cost cutting measure.

The alloy ones don't corrode like that and are lighter, don't spend the money on refurbing those. They are the same as the s14 calipers and not worth a lot.

I'm sure there are plenty of people on here who would sell you a set of the alloy calipers in reasonable Nick for not to much, I think I might even have a set around somewhere in the UK. I can find out for you if you want.

You're pretty much sorted so buddy, I may have my Brembo's and disks coming up for sale, they're GTR Disks with beefier Calipers than the GTR's, They're on the Z but have done feck all mileage since they were fitted in 06-07.

That's the only photo I have at the minute.

Been quoted £400 to get my calipers refurbished.

Stripped down, new pistons, seals and then painted.

The garage are friends of mine so getting discount but wondered if that is a good deal ?

£400 - I'd say you could buy a set of reconditioned calipers on an exchange basis for less than that Lee. Granted, it was 3-4 years ago now, but I bought mine for around £275 (after exchange rebate) from a company called Brakes International - http://www.brakesint.co.uk - I also think Big Redd does something similar!

Richard:cool:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I think that's the best option + that's what I would do!

But I am not the best mechanic on the planet!

I dremel sanded mine then Hammerited them in smooth black & fine sanded the NISSAN logo!
