Guys

One of my Contacts in Japan has offered me this car. It is a SWB Slicktop 1992 TT Manual

I have enclosed the pictures I have available so you can see what it's all about. The stuff that is not obvious is that at some point the front end has been replaced. My contact says it was an insurance job and done by the main dealer. Also the car has 100,00 miles on the clock and the bodywork has some minor scratches on the bumpers and elsewhere, plus the spoiler has the usual paint cracking. I would not usually think about this but bearing in mind what you guys told me last week, I thought I would offer it up. I can get this here to be sold for a Maximun of £3200, possibly a little less. If some one wants it then let me know and I will start the ball rolling..Garry. I will answer any questions that I can

Personally I'd be weary of the mileage and "insurance job", but a manual TT slicktop is extremely desirable to me. I'd definitely at least have a look if I was buying.

The Japanese are notoriously particular when it comes to repairs, especially at a main dealer i would imagine? Maybe a "replaced front end" is lost in translation and it has just had a little knock with a front bumper replacement? Assuming your contact knows what he's looking at with regards to the front chassis being straight, it would be worth a punt i think. I'm sure at that price you'd have no issues moving it on, even with the blue interior!

Well they fitted the front bumper back on with the wrong screws! lol :p

I think it would sell though.

For me it's a bad colour combination outside and inside. But someone else might really like it.

Also being tin top may put people off as one of the great loves of the car it taking the T-bars off on a sunny day. Flip side of that is people in the know will want the better handling of it and appreciate it's rarity.

For me I think you'll shift it no worries at that price, but bare in mind the things that limit your market.

SWB

Slick top

Blue interior

Damaged repaired

Rightly or wrongly will narrow down your customer base on that car.

Agreed, and its for those reasons that I am only going to get it if someone actually wants it, and not as a punt

And I thought the SWB was actually more desireable due to the better handling, and lets face it unless you have young children who can actually fit into the back of a 2 by 2, unless you actually are a contortionist. LOL

Looks very tidy to me and if I didn't have my current Zed, I'd certainly be happy to pay £3k for that Slicktop, subject to a little more information.

And the SWB IS more desirable because its better!:surrender:

Great looking motor but out of price range :(

Despite the accident you should get that money for it no problem. Dream combo or swb, manual and tt will be too appealing for someone!

What would be the best price on this as am after a slick top!

best price jesus its so cheap anyway, shipping is over a grand then taxes to pay on it.

Did the slicktop not have a different identifier in its VIN ??

The chassis number, which is what was used as a VIN to register mine, is as follows:

Z32-XXXXXX

With the following characters prepended as appropriate:

C - Twin Turbo

G - 2+2

H - Convertible

Marked below the chassis number there's also a "model number", which is longer and indicates some further details. Mine is "KRGZ32T71" for a 2+2 NA R. If I remember correctly, the K indicates it's a targa top, but I may be wrong on that. There's a full explanation somewhere on the forum - do a search.

This is for JDM cars anyway - which a RHD slicktop will be - other markets may have differing formats.

Mine is a TT slicktop SWB JDM car

Chassis number is

CZ32 xxxxxx

Parts car is TT targa top LWB JDM car

Chassis number is

GCZ32 xxxxxx

hope that helps
