So a spot of bad luck... I park on the high street opposite my flat at night and last night someone decided to rip my passenger wing mirror off (from the pavement side) and leave it on my roof. It literally the whole thing has been sheared off. What a way to start the day :(

Sitting outside the police station at the moment waiting for it to open.... fingers crossed they can help.

What is it that drives people to be such ********?

Wish that was the case mate - was the pavement side so it would have taken a lot of work to smash it of. Haha yeah haters...

i had a bmw z3 years ago was parked up and some one slashed the plastic window in the hood. just for the hell of it. waste of timer going he police spend that time finding a new mirror and thank your stars thay didnt key the paint or something very harsh like that.

I'm going to guess someone was drunk, fell in to it and broke it off. Then left in on your roof. Think most vandals wouldn't be so bothered to put it on your roof

My friend lives in hailsham and he regularly gets people spitting, pissing on his cars, chewing gum stuck to them, knife in the tyres, wing mirror bent/pulled off etc. ive come to the conclusion that people are a**eholes in this country. we dont respect others things and couldnt care less about things except ourselves and our new iphone/ipad/tv/etc...

I got called a very bad set of words yesterday because our bus fares went up by 10p. It wasnt even me that raised the prices! and its 10p for heavensake, its not that much.... 50p a week if you keep buying day tickets...

Hi Guys, Blooming buys week!

So after the police told me they weren't interested anymore as they had "no more lines of investigation" I started my own.. The shop I was parked outside of seemed to have CCTV so I spoke the the owner and had them look through.. Low and behold a bunch of yobs with baseball caps and Tesco bags smashing it off. Footage too blurry to pick out faces but I bet you tesco has some decent Hi Res footage of them buying their 6 pack of fosters... So emailed the officer again and it was picked up the following day by my local constabulary. They are now going to get the footage and find out what happened and see if they know the kids, and put out a message to spot them in the local area.

So all in all more help than I thought they would be! Now I just have to fix the bloody thing. Hoping I can get some advice... The wing mirror itself is Okay, but the wires are snapped off at the base of the mirror, and there is a cylindrical metal "thing" that also seemed to have snapped... I imagine this is what rotates them?

Also, a bunch of electrics have gone down with it.. Interior clock, rear windscreen wiper, and intermittent front wiper settings and screen was settings no longer work! Would these have been on the same circuit as the mirrors? I imagine it has just shorted out, or that there is no longer an earth to complete the circuit (I know nothing about electrics so that could be nonsense!)

If anyone has the motor etc they are willing to sell that would be awesome!!

Best regards, W

Hardly Will! Seems it's your process of elimination that's got them off their arse, would have been fairly simple process to look at the area covered by CCTV, but obviously too busy sitting on their £40K a year arses looking for motoring infringments to bother.

Well done Sherlock!, hope they get the little s**ts

I expect a direct short was caused and it's blown a fuse bud. So pop the little buggers out and check them all. The metal disc breaks easy, I did the same a few years ago on a gate curtiousy of my dad's "help", over it... Anyways I purchased another wing mirror swapped the internals shell to shell and spliced the wires. Fiddly job in the door but it wasn't the end of the world.

I wouldn't waste time thinking of trying to repair the metal swivel plate, never known them to last, so do as Stephen suggested :)
