I'm wanting your ideas really on what might improve the looks of my car (externally).

Generally, I think I looks pretty nice but as with everything, there's always more than can be done so I'm interested in what opinions people have.

Please don't be shy, I certainly don't take offence if others are keen and all that.

Here's a couple of pictures of the car:

If they're now sitting further in at the top than the bottom maybe they need an adjustment? Are they wearing more on the insides of the tyre at all? Chuck those 20mm's on the front and see how it looks and how the clearance is on the arches and take it from there, I reckon it will look spot on :tongue_smilie:

I like the tyre writing personally :surrender:

Yes the tyre lettering is great and will look the part when you fit your firebird decal to the bonnet Lee. Yeeee Haaaaaaw

Now there's an idea!!!

I'll have a look at how the spacers make the wheels sit. Might try and do it over the weekend if I get the time.

JoelyP - I'll have to check on the offsets. I'll try and find the for sale thread maybe

I would have used standard font on the front plate and no logos or borders but thats just me. I used standard font on 3/4 sized plates on both my zeds

I agree, those 20mm spacers on the front and go for some 10mm spacers on the rear. That will be a vast improvement. Another vote from me to lose the white lettering too!

Having said that, spacers that size may be too much, maybe 15mm front and 5mm rear. Do you know what the width and offset of your wheels are?

I'm not sure on the offsets, please tell me if there's a way to check. The backs and 10 inch and the fronts are apparently only 8 inch. Would need to measure it but that's what the thread said

UPDATE:

What do you all think?

Much much tidier Lee.......

I have never liked the "Goofy" look of a JDM front number plate - the stock UK size is ALWAYS better than the daft square thingy...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Thanks Richard. Hopefully a few more small touches will bring it along nicely

Better, but I would certainly have kept the tacky wording and logo off of it and I would have gone for 3/4 sized. Had mine on for a decade amd never had a single word mentioned of it. Spacers would really help, both front and rear. Rear needs about a 10mm poke and the front about a 20mm.

......wheel specs will be stamped onto the rear of one of the spokes or hub face.

Been doing another couple of little jobs.

Finally sorted the sheered bolt issue from January by fitting a new bracket that holds the CAS. Pita taking the timing belt cover off and having to pry the bracket out. Put the dress up bolts on while I was on though.

I also got the toothbrush out and cleaned the inside of the throttle bodies which is a well overlooked job on most of our cars. Cleaned the CAS connections too.

As ever... Before and after photos even though it's a small change :

I found the spacers. I'd bought them in 2011 specifically for the front wheels. I'd thought 20mm when looking at them myself. How adjustable is the suspension as standard on these with the tops of the wheel being slightly further in than the bottom.

These are the spacers I have:

First and foremost, get the Z1 Street FUCAs and their new adjustable tension rods. That will fix the inset appearance of your front wheels quite dramatically then you can assess what poke you'll need.

I advise against solid bushings like you'd find on Powertrix systems and SPL systems. The Midori style camber and tension componets are simply not required for UK roads and are only suitable if you intend on having an overly firm and uncompromising ride, basically, avoid unless you intend to spend a lot of time with it on the track.

Well. The next step has been taken in hope of making the car look better. The Wheel Spacers. I must say, I do think it's looking a lot better, every time I come home I think, it looks mint now...

Well, I was bored as today. Absolutely nothing to do and I'm running out of stuff to do on my car. So, I fixed the wiring to the boost controllers solenoid, new wiring plug on etc. then I had a go at using a clay bar as there's a few tiny dots in the paintwork. Not sure if I did it right though as they're still there. Anyway, that being said I do think I got the car really quite clean and have used some G3 scratch remover (not the paste). So I'll have to get some polish now to really seal it - Heres some pictures as ever, hopefully showing how clean it is...
