General Election

Make sure you all exercise your right to vote today!

If you don't vote, you cant complain about government/politicians/policies for 5 years!

Dont let apathy (or Russel Brandt) be an excuse, it only takes a few mins.

May your chosen party win (unless they are the ones I dont like!) :lol:

Yep if he can stick the knife in your own brother would you want him leading the Country!

:bow::bow:

i believe that with david milliband at the reigns then it may have been a different story, ed is a goof, he stabbed his brother in the back and took it from the unions to get what he wanted, he would have sided with anyone to be prime minister and i was very worried about that

i voted conservative as i think its the best choice not only for the country but for myself, i have been better off under this geverment and felt more secure

one thing i am concerned about is the eu thing, i dont want us leave as i live in sunderland and this city survives on nissan, they have wanred they will leave the country if we leave the eu and that is very worrying for me

but lets hope the country made the right choice and voted in the right party to sort out the mess the country is in

Nissan exports 85% of UK production. That one plant makes more vehicles than the entire Italian motor industry. They are serious about pulling out if we leave EU

they have already made plans to make the juke elswhere if we leave the eu, that along with honda will be the end of british maufacturing altogether, its a very worrying

:bow::bow:

The country has spoken.....

LOL - very good...:rofl: Whilst I feel for Farage, he did speak a lot of sense in some of the TV debates, I am pleased he did not win the seat. He did, however, leave his mark on the electorate and caused the Conservatives to question their own tactics.

I would not worry yet Allan. Whilst Nissan and Honda have made such noises, it's unlikely they will follow it through. Any referendum on our EU membership will not happen until 2017 - so who knows if there will be an "EU" as we know it in 2 years time. Europe is certainly not seeing the green shoots of recovery - not even Germany - in the same way that the UK is. The whole "EU" bubble might have burst by then anyway....

Furthermore, now that the Conservatives have secured an outright win, it is MORE likely that foreign investors will come to (or stay in) Britain. Working in the construction industry, I know that several major multi-billion pound projects were put on hold in the last couple of months; pending financial uncertainty in the UK in the event of a change in government which would have threatened our economic recovery. Now it's over - and that uncertainty has lifted - the investors (including some big overseas organisations) will have the confidence to proceed once more. I reckon that will be repeated across many industries - automotive included. And no-one can deny the success of Nissan's UK production - EU or not, I can't see Nissan (or Honda) Japan turning their backs on us just yet....:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

i really hope so richard, it really does have me concerned for the future of the north east

and farrage is what i call "a drunken government" we all meet at pubs or houses and get drunk with friends, we spout off about all kinds of things including polotics and have all the right answers, everything is right in what we announce (when drunk) or if not our equally drunk friends know the right answer

but the next day when the booze has wore off and the flashbacks come back we start to realise we were actually all talking *****cks and realise our fantastic drunken ideas could never be implemented and the only people who realised this the night before were the sober people

ukip is a drunken group of lads and lasses with the answers to everthing but the practice of nothing

Not just the NE - but major investors like Nissan and Honda pulling out of here will affect the whole country..... But David Cameron doubtlessly knows that; so even if a referendum yields a substantial "non" to the EU, we probably won't completely pull out 100% - more like we'll renegotiate our terms and involvement within it, to give us back our independence, in order to have our own say on how we do things in this country; without EU meddling. Not to mention scrapping the stupid EU Human Rights Act, which prevents us deporting those migrant criminals.

And whilst on the subject of drunken politics etc., you're dead right about drunken groups. We need to remember that the business of who governs the country is important - and that means our politicians should not be mates down the pub. And more pertinently, a general election is not an X-factor style popularity contest!!

More people vote in the x factor though ? Shame really !! I would burn Simon Cowell ! Saatn !

Not quite. 66% of the eligible population voted in this general election. Xfactor doesn't get any where near that viewing figure let alone people that actually vote. Of that 34% of eligible voters who btw are just as entitled to choose not to vote as to vote, how many are engaged enough to make a proper decision? I chose to abstain this time for several reasons, including a wild conspiracy theory haha. However I think I probably put more thought into that choice than 50% of those 66% who just went and ticked what they always ticked... I stand by my choice. If, if I decide to vote next time that's also my choice in this free country, so il decide then what to do.
