Boost solenoids

I plan to run an MBC to control boost and in my quest for a simple clutter free life, I'm thinking I can just bin them. I no longer have a dett sensor so is there any good reason to retain them?

bin..

I think they can still cause a safety map??? This has come up before. I removed mine from the vacuum system but left the wiring alone in case I worried the ECU.

They are the tool for a safe map (reduced boost) by way of a diverter valve which is all they are really...The dett sensor and ECU commands the solenoids to bleed off air from the accuator line.

When reduced boost is triggered it also changes the map onto a second map. So if you prevent the engine from reducing boost it will still drop onto a different map...

That is my limited knowledge exhausted, it was explained by Noz just before christmas if you dig about.

Simply cost to effect basis. Nothing more sinister.

Thats all i did on my last zed Steve...one of Noz,s mbc straight down to the accuators.Reliable increased boost which never varies. This solenoid and dett sensor delete i would NOT recomend to anyone who,s not engine or mechanical savvy as the devil spawned dressed as detonation can come in the night and kill

Yeah that's the plan. Longer term il be using a wideband anyway, however from what I understand the dett sensor isn't that useful anyway, cuts out etc. The dett sensor didn't exactly save the last engine either lol.

every sensor ive removed they look like a burnt burger after over 20 years in the most hostile part of the motor to put a none metalic component
