At a quandary with my interior.

For quite a while now, I have been thinking about changing my interior. When I bought the car back in '05, it had tweed, albeit in very good condition. However, I didn't like the feel or appearance of it and about 6 years ago had it all gutted and drummed with a 2-tone leather. I like the smell and look of leather, but it's not supportive and it creaks.

I've been speaking to Mondo on and off about having it trimmed in an alcantara / leather hybrid which is ultimately what I will have done toward the end of the year providing that I am still living in the UK as there's a good possibility that I won't be.

In the interim (intentional word), I've bought a very tidy series 3 velour interior. I like both the look and the feel and I also like the fact that everything fits nicely and your harris doesn't slide between the seat bolsters on cornering.

I just don't know what to do, whether to flog my current leather interior and fit my new velour interior...I will miss all the 'lovely interior' comments, so just don't know!! Eeeek!

You know my thoughts, mate. If you can get some pennies back for your current leather trim, then go for it :)

Honestly? The old two tone was IMO a bit tacky. It looked like what it was an aftermarket trim, more suited to last decades bodykits Heros. I think a much more subtle do over more in keeping with the rest of your car which is subtly modified. Fresh and simple is better than fussy I think we both agree there.

I love the leather which is why I have kept it with alacantara cards etc. Basically I've cherry picked from the OEM catalogue. How about black velour or simular cars with half leather seats in a two tone of charcoal and black.

Have it retrimmed in something more modern like mine ..... mondo can show you pictures

I prefer the velour to the leather interior Si. But I'm a little odd as I actually like the tweed! It has to be in immaculate condition though.

If I were you I'd put the standard series 3 in that you've purchased and sell your leather. I think you've already made your mind up tbh. The current leather is now looking a little dated in its style, the series 3 will be in keeping until Mondo works his magic on a more fitting update for you.

I'm sure you'll have no problem shifting your current interior.

Always good to see even prime examples of the marque being continuously improved year on year. You and a few others on here have got it down to a fine art. Nice work Si.

Alcantara center and leather bolsters to compliment each other. We all know you have a pattern fabrics sorted and it's gonna be a Xmas morning for us all as you keep us in suspense till the prezzie is unwrapped. Patiently waiting to see the outcome.

So when you moving out the country ??

Kidding.

Remove the dated leather and store away, it will be back in fashion, eventually ?

Cloth stuff.

Alan........

Alan......

Food for thought!

Happy 5000th Post Si, + the others pre-leaving for a bit ;0)

Your car will look great which ever interior YOU choose. Both are in keeping with the style and age of the Zed. You know what you want to do otherwise, why did you purchase velour? Go on, do it! A few hors work and you will soon see if you like it or not. Hang on to the leather for a while until you are sure that you are happy.

You could also do what my wife does and have a winter and summer wardrobe, lol.

It will still look great mate whichever but...............dibs on the leather haha!

I love everything about your car including the interior. If the velour is just a stop gap and you can sell the leather then why not.

BUT If you swap permanent :ban: (sorry there was not a simile saying "again") :tt2:

A nice matt (or satin) black leather for the bolsters, charcoal grey or possibly black Alcantara for the centres and all the panelling.

Finish it off with dark grey topstitching and you've got a winner! :)

I know you want something that's very subtle, so the above would effectively be combining the best elements of the factory leather seats and the S2 "Alcantara" (even though it's not!) trim. With the added update of Alcantara seat centres, so no more creaking or sliding about during "spirited driving!"

That sounds spot on mondo.

I knows my apples! :D

Seriously though, me and Si had a looooooong chat about his interior when I met him at Powerzed the other weekend, so I know he's wanting something that's "OEM+" (like the rest of his car).

With that in mind, bright colours (including thread) are pretty much out of the window, so it needs to be (in my opinion, anyway) a reasonably muted interior... one that you perhaps have to look twice at to realise that there's something a little out of the ordinary in there... :thumbup1:

That's the kinda thought I had in mind for him aswel.

I agree matt leather looks better!

I wasn't always a fan of matt originally but my new seat's are matt leather and they have grown on me very quickly.

Leave it alone Si.....!!!

Full leather all the way in a top-line GT car - nothing else IMO adds to the occasion of driving such an automobile... And yours is just fine as it is...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
