As you can see in the pic i think the recurulation things have been deleated so to make way for the bovs.my question is when i make up my own pipework to my fmic the bovs will go aswell.do i need someform of recurculation going on or can i just run without for a while

. i think cas i eventally want a nice set right up in front of the throttle bodies.

I suppose if you drove everywhere without getting on boost it might be ok but I wouldn't risk it. I have a spare pair of recircs you can borrow till you get your BOVs

Look it up, some are of the opinion it's perfectly fine to run no bov recirculating or otherwise. I think il be deleting my bov's personally. You would have to read watch and make your own decision though bud.

I've been running without BOVs for years. 1.7bar on the stock auto turbos. No issues.

 

1.9 bar on a Pulsar

2 bar on another Pulsar

2.3 bar on an MR2 Turbo

1.7 bar on an S13.

1.5 bar on a Fiat Coupe

 

A Zed running 1.6bar on GTX2860s, used for drift. No BOVs or recircs.

 

There are no issues with running without BOVs or recircs in my experience.

Actually gear changes at WOT is when they provide most benefit in theory. They prevent a type of compressor surge where the compressed air from the turbo is suddenly stalled when you close the throttle and the turbo wheels decelerate suddenly

Compressor/turbine wheels do not decelerate suddenly due to turbos momentarily operating to the left of the surge line on gear changes (what I call "off-boost surge").

 

"Stall" is an aerodynamic term that describes the separation of airflow from the top side of an aerofoil, in this case it occurs at the rear of the compressor blades due to a sudden increase in pressure at the front of the blades when the throttle shuts.

You get the familiar CHA-Cha-cha sound (often mistakenly called wastegate chatter) which abates over time as flow stability across the blades is regained and the pressure pulses decrease in amplitude.

Yes, trying to keep it too simple and got lost myself, though I would say they slow down a bit. Anyway, unlikely to cause any damage and doubt you'll notice losing the benefit they are supposed to provide.

Not just Nissan, but every manufacturer in their aim for a refined driving experience. The Nissan 200SX S13 was not equipped with a pressure relief valve of any kind, and turbo longevity was not an issue.
