Thanks bird I did do the obvious ones but I know thiers loads and ive probably missed some so ill check again thanks for that pointer

There's a good video on YouTube showing where they are I believe. There'll probably be something in the FAQ section too. I'm on my mobile so can't look very easily

I have all the rare bits you can't find :tongue:

Fuel smell from the exhaust? Check for boost leaks as said and also check the coolent temp sensor.

Fuel smell in engine bay, check for fuel leaks

Its is mainly out the arse end to be honest but checking all the hoses is a fair shout!! Water temp sensor causing overfueling issues?? would be easier to replace it i would imagine lol eliminate it straight away

Sound advice concerning the temperature sender.

The sensor could be OK, but a poor wiring connection will cause issues.

Have you checked the O2 sensors?

I wouldn't say the O2 sensors are easy to get to, but at this stage you don't need to.

It would be in your interest to confirm they are working though.

To do this you'll need to confirm they are constantly changing voltage from between 0 to 1VDC.

Don't be surprised if the voltages are a little more than 0, or a little less than 1 volt, this is normal.

If the voltage is not constantly changing, there is a problem.

Ok where would I get the electric pickup to test with my multi meter please buddy

I've never used a multimeter to test the O2's, as I use ConZult or Nistune.

Have a look in the Nissan FSM, under the Engine Fuel & Emission Control System - Trouble Diagnosis - Diagnostic Procedure #30.

Although this section relates to an O2 sensor fault, it provides information on the connector locations in the engine bay as well a circuit diagram.

good advice, conzult or nisture are a must!... you've also started preventative maintenance.. (plugs and filters) you just need to keep going.

check the timing (with a timing light) and check and clean all electrical connections.

You'll also need to check the TPS and MAF.. and clean throttle bodies ..

the 6Ps are a good start..

Thanks for all the input guys as always thumbs.. Looks like I need someone nearby yeovil with conzult or nistune! Anyone??

Jimmer in Bristol, just up the road and will do a full check over for you inc Conzult

Time it right when I'm down there and the AFR can be monitored as well :)

give him a call next week when he's back from hols, he's very reasonable cost wise and exceptionally helpful

I have been around all the garages in North Dorset, and not a single one has a strobe light for checking the timing! Think a trip to Bristol will be in order soon!
