Have a problem with the clutch on my car at the moment and I think it's the slave cylinder, are there any other cars that use the same cylinder as ours.

cheers Paul

Hi Terry I'll give you a shout when I've got the new one.

Chris, no fluid in the system tried to bleed it but no luck not been under the car to look for leaks yet, but all looks ok with the master cylinder but I have a new oem one sat in the garage if that is the problem, was thinking that I might just renew both cylinders as they are pretty old now if they are the originals.

Without doubt that is the best plan.

Hi Chris yes still have the bleeder by the head lamp, I tried the one on the master cylinder as well, think I go for plan A and replace both cylinders.

Thanks for all the input and thanks for the offer of help Terry.

Paul get on to luke at zcentre get the hose that replaces the clutch hard line,

He has 2 types you want the longer one,

Really easy to bleed and gets rid of that horrible looking thing in the engine bay ...

check the inside of the car by the clutch pedal where it comes through the bulk head as mine leaked there

Yep

Yes, I agree, if replacing both master and slave (or even if you're not) just run a direct line from the Master cylinder the the slave. I did this with my NA, though still a hard pipe, and I've done it with my rebuild TT clutch setup. You can get a flexi pipe for somewhere between £20 - £30.

If you can, replace both, as it's no fun when the clutch pedal hits the floor with no pressure and there's nothing you can do but sit there. Fortunately I was close to home, and it turned out to be the master. Oddly enough, had to replace the master cylinder on my TT clutch setup recently....maybe I'm cursed.

Drive it without clutch. Simples

At the time I couldn't select a single gear, and was stuck in neutral. Just in case this happens again, what do you mean drive it without the clutch?

I just realised that I didn't actually answer the original question.

There is a list here, which might help-

The Terranno has already been mentioned, but FORD MAVERICK 2.7DT is also an option, apparently.

Select first gear, start engine and away you go, change up gears at correct rpm and it will shift perfectly, when shifting down, drop it out of gear rev up engine to match vehicle speed and it will drop in lower gear perfectly too. Try it next time your out. it's all about timing and having a feel for the gearbox, just try to keep moving when approaching lights etc as pulling away from stationary is the only tricky bit. practice it.

What he said. If you learn how to do it, it'll be a lifesaver one day.

Certainly will, I had to attend a broken down fully loaded artic couple of years back which had burst the concentric slave inside the bell housing, not possible to repair without removing gearbox.

I took over from the driver and drove it from A14/M11 junction to kings Lynn and back to basildon without a clutch pedal, that saved a whole heap of wasted time and money.
