As much as I'm happy with my Zed, I do occasionally check out Autotrader to see what's for sale in the world of the Porsche 928s4. Last year, you could still buy a decent example with little over 100k miles for around £10k.....

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/search/used/cars/porsche/928/postcode/hp160su/radius/1501/onesearchad/used%2Cnearlynew%2Cnew/quicksearch/true

....But now they are fetching almost £20k!!

I don't want to start another thread about Zed prices - but wouldn't it be good to see the same thing happen there:wink:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Is part of it people wishing they were worth that much? They put their price up on websites because thats what they feel they should be worth? There was a ZX last month on a website that the guy was trying to sell for £15k or something and people on here were laughing...

We all get attached to our cars and if/when that dreaded day comes to get rid of them, do we not price the car at what our broken heart tells us too? Do we not try to squeeze as much out of the buyer as possible? would we not advertise it a couple K over what we would accept anyway?

im sure the values of ZXs are going up, its simple supply and demand, but if a dealer advertises one on autotrader for £9,995, are we not going to think: "Mine is almost as good as that one, ill advertise mine at £7,995" and before we know it, everyone has started doing the same?

I think it's just a sign of the times, despite what you may read in the daily fail or other doom and gloom pushers the economy is improving. People have more money, we've seen that on here alone. Think how many more projects and better money resto's are being carried out in comparison to 3-4 years ago.

People are starting to spend their money again, maybe not on houses and 100s of £k super cars like the goverment want but they are spending.

Porsches are also really making crazy money anyway, the 911 market is mad. Some of those early cars are stupid, stupid money and by that token people want the brand, so the cheaper ones are becoming more desirable as well. I doubt you will see 924s get silly money but the 944 may soon become less of a bargain.

sold my 924 turbo, which id kept in.. Really original car it was, perfect front to rear balance.. awesome to drive.. could fix everything on it easily.

Maybe time to aquire a nice 944 turbo then

Nah, I'll stick with my little Japanese icon, mate :thumbup1:

I love it too much!!

I had a 944 few years ago great car. always wanted a 928 its on my list of cars to buy

Very nearly bought a 928 S4 before getting the Zed, test drove several and in my mind they are a great example of a GT car. The only reason I didn't buy one was that spare parts are pretty expensive. I do remember reading a review on an owners club site saying something like "if your going to own a 928, buy a second one to keep as a donor for the parts your going to need". (lol if only I hadn't spent so much on the Zed and the upgrades.... never mind )

Still really like them, the side and rear profile is fantastic. I think the car was Quentin Wilson's "The Classic Car" show the other week, with that tall geeky guy reviewing them.

Agreed....

...I did like the 944; but the 300zx trounced it in every way - and that's not just my opinion, pretty much all the motoring press agreed back in the day. In fact many went as far as to pitch the 300zx against the mighty 928, as opposed to the 944; since Nissan's testers lapped the 'Ring in the 300zx faster than Porsche's finest drivers' own attempts in the (then) new 928GT.

Nonetheless I do still love the 928 from s4 guise onward. It's the grand-daddy GT car; an awesome cruiser with a thumping V8 - docile around town and an animal when let loose on the open roads. ...
