Hi all, currently have a TT Manual with BoVs, HKS single exit back box, and a cone filter. Just wondering what would be the next logical step performance wise?

Thanks,

Stefan

Odd I'm not the only one who had that UK JDM difference lodged in the brain it's been mentioned many times on here. Anyways at least that's cleared it up. Decat away.

Respect to the person who left z32 off the database

Shame mine is 1996 :headvswal

Have you confirmed that? So many are supposedly later cars and turn out to be early ones.

Have you confirmed that? So many are supposedly later cars and turn out to be early ones.

It's all governed by the date of first use, so what the v5 says governs mot criteria.

Pre 92 vehicles are non cat test, from 92 to August 95 a cat test DOESNT apply as z32 is not on database, 95 onwards cat test will apply

So removing a cat on a zed upto 1st August 1995 is not a failure as only vehicles requiring a full cat test (not z32) are required to have one fitted.

Do you have the MOT literature extract that explains this point? I've been having issues for the last few years trying to convince the tester of this but they never believe me, which is a pain considering mine is defatted!

Good stuff thanks matey. That flowchart is perfect as it clearly states that cars not listed in the annex are subject to a non cat test. I've checked the 18th edition emission standards booklet annex and sure enough, the 300zx is not listed. I assume they're unlikely to appear on the analyser database?

You got it Joel, that annex list is the list we must use.

So if any of you z owners with a vehicle first used pre 1st August 1995 and the mot tester says you need a cat test, politely ask him to show where a Z32 is listed on the In service vehicle emissions standards, no Z on the database so simple pre cat test emission levels apply.

And if your tester says it's failed because your factory fitted cat has been removed, again politely explain that as a Z32 doesn't qualify for a full catalyst test due to the reason given above, it's not required to be fitted with a cat. Simples.

Oh really? I asked my local MOT center and was told it would pass the emissions test without a cat but would fail because of a new cat-presents check. Something about if the car came from factory with a cat it needed one for the MOT regardless of emissions.

Change ur mot station his talking out his ar

Well the ruling on a cat being fitted is correct, just doesn't apply to the pre 1/8/1995 zed. unfortunately cars do get failed due to testers not fully understanding the mot scheme,A shame but true

As stated at the start Steff speak to noel. He is the guy who will tell you the pros and cons power wise of what you need to do prior to remap.

This remap will change your zedding experience.
