I know I know! I think I missed out by 3p. I didn't think it was going to be such hot competition normally they arn't popular.

Yes they did lol, few pence more they would be mine. Oh well back to alibaba they arn't much more than that on there new. Alibaba is confusing though.

Why are you after tubular manifolds rather than cast ones?

Cost vs performance gain. It's for my temporary engine, I wouldn't entertain them as a fit and forget item but in my scenario I can pretty much consider them disposable if necessary, I can just weld up the cracks if necessary.

Several companies have made them and ceased production, due to the cracking issue. One reputable stateside company went as far as making them from inconnel with the same results sadly. Tubular manifolds are extremly good at flowing gasses which is why the zed is one of very few cars to utilise them.

I love the pentroof style tubular ones but the bolting up of the turbo outlet pipes is impossible.

Pretty much every car going has an aftermarket option for tubular manifolds

Sorry "not" to utilise them. That's exactly my point, my mate looked at me very squiffy when I was trying to tell him they don't work long term on zeds. I don't think he believed me since like you say they are standard fare.

This was the experience of Greg Dupree from Specialty-Z with stainless and inconel manifolds:

With the Z32 the problem of cracking was made worse by the weight of the turbos hanging off the manifolds. For a

time SZ insisted that to provide a warranty against their inconel manifolds cracking that their test pipes with flexible

joints were also fitted. Ultimately SZ stopped selling inconel manifolds and went with cast iron from Mike Smith.

"Because the manifold is so short and the pipe is so thin, the manifold gets hot really fast....

This offers amazing spool up, but the problem is you can only bend a paper clip back and forth so many times before it breaks....."

Ie they are great for performance, poor for longevity. I'm not worried about longevity. I tell you what the response generally on here over these the person who did but them will be handing them over for a £10 note lol so cheers for that.

Can you not just wrap your cast one with exhaust tape?

I think the fact they are so unrestrictive in comparison to stock is a big factor. I don't think at that point the MSP ones were out
