Hi mate ill start you off before getting shot down.firstly what ever your choice its compleatly up to u.and even though tubs and intercoolers choice has been thrown down for years.and the only thing that doesnt change is that everyone including me espeally me, has been a learning curve and a compleat mind field.

i after much debating went for gsp600.there pound for pound cheap as chips and are good for 500 bhp plus.they are journal bearing and not a ball bearing but you get what you payfor.and me personaly havnt got two grant to spend on tubs.reason i say this is because what ever your tub choice is going to be to get 500 plus your going first to also to sort out some breathing mods in place as well.so upgrade your intake pipes to 2.5" is a must. Then there the uprated intercoolers to do aswell.if you go fmic or smic make sure your pipework again is uprated to 2.5" to match whatever you go for.from there you can uprate your maff and filter set up to make good use of the upgraded2.5" pipework.there looads of stand a loan stuff to buy as well as pagage deals.and at last yourll need to update your exhaust side of the tubs as well.again anything from 2.5" up is good there aswell.and last but not least.before you start on any of that make sure your cars running as sweat as nut otherwise yourll be chassing your own arse.oh and nearly forgot.to get the plus 500 yourll need to upgrade your injectors as well.good luck and hope this helps.oh and dont forget to book an oppointment with your bank manager.

Any reason your aiming at 500? The difference between 400, 500 and 600 go up sharply. There's lots of information out there, just got to hunt for it. There are many ways to skin a cat, just need to decide what your priority is.

On a budget:

GSP600s

FMIC

555cc injectors

AEM 320lph fuel pump

Nistune

BCR8ES spark plugs

Full exhaust system

Air filter

Not on a budget:

T28, GT28R, GT28RS

FMIC

555cc injectors

AEM 320lph fuel pump

Nistune

BCR8ES or BKR8EIX spark plugs

Full exhaust system

Air filters

2.5" IC pipework

Dual intake

Thanks lads just fancied 500bhp lol to be honest the engine will have to come out at some point for a rebuild so I thought while iam on will change turbos etc. Will standard internals take 500 or should I be upgrading Pistons rods etc.

Thanks again Mark :)

As i understand it. Standard engine for moderate use and 500 plus is fine.but if your a weekend tracker then internals like pistons ect will need upgrading

Brill awnser noel like your style. Dont wont any more grey hairs

Grey hairs are a luxury, pulled all my hair out many moons ago!

My word, what a great read! That link should be in a sticky.

Now stuck in the tech section

Some good general pointers, but it's a 10 year old guide with some very outdated information:

At this level you have a car generally known as a "Stage 5+" Z, basically all the big, easy bolt-on mods you can do. Your Z is probably putting down upwards of 340-370rwhp now and 12 second 1/4 miles are with in reach given some sticky tires and slick driving.

The stock 370cc units aren’t going to go beyond 15psi or so and thus we upgrade

15psi on stock turbos does not equate to 340-370rwhp, plus stock injectors are perfectly fine for much higher boost levels, only requiring an increase in fuel pressure when dual intakes & 2.5" pipework are employed along with 25psi.

Noz, I think you should do a fully fledged updated UK based guide with a similar format and level of detail as that. It would make a very interesting read I'm sure. I know most of it has already been covered in several of your posts, spread across the forum over the past years, but all of the info, contained in one concise sticky thread like that would be a great reference. You could have the link as a reply on speed dial!

Id second that as it would be a very usefull guide of where to start and how far you want to take your car, maybe even recommending manufacturers of parts?
