Ten of the Best (TOTB), is a performance road car event run by Straightliners Ltd, aimed at finding the best all round car and drivers in Europe. Handling, top speed and a 1/4m drag strip are used to determine the best of the best, Ten Of The Best!

All cars that compete in our main road competition class are road legal, taxed, tested and insured. There is also a new "pro-drag class" for the ultimate drag specific cars. Many of the cars that compete at TOTB are modified, some to the extreme. Many of the entrants have built and modified their own vehicles, while others represent the cream of the crop from the Tuners and Garages that specialise in the types of cars entered to compete.

Points are awarded in each of the three events overall, making it extremely difficult to score points in all events, unless the car and driver are on top form!

The Pro-Drag class will have its own shootout final and trophy, with regular head to head runs during the event.

Individual classes are also used to determine class trophies:

FWD (front wheel drive)

RWD (rear wheel drive)

4WD (four wheel drive)

The teams who take part are also battling it out for the TOTB team Trophy, a highly contested piece of silverware.

Ten of the Best brings together modern high tech and high spec cars, along with high power retro classics, giving all a chance to show their prowess on the day. Entrants come from most of the UK and European car clubs and groups, along with individual entries and invited Tuner cars.

Is there any mandatory mods required?

Or can you pretty much drive your car there and compete?

needs to have an MOT and insurance - that's it

Does that meen road insurance, or track insurance?

road insurance, but i doubt it will cover anything that would happen at the event. It's more to show it's for road legal cars

Just a helmet, but you are supposed to be covered so no t shirt or shorts etc. Trousers and long sleeved top.

I should be going and I will be doing my own thing as usual but am more than happy to be part of the 300ZX team. Regarding regs the car should be 'road legal' but take this with a pinch of salt. Last year I spent a fortune keeping it road legal and when signing on with all my paperwork, tax, insurance, MOT two guys in front had NOTHING but showed a photo of their car on the road which seemed to be 'fine'. You won't be turned away unless your car is particularly loud. You will need a helmet which 'should' be a car type not motorcycle however again they are unlikely to check this. If you're in a true road car a motorcycle helmet is good enough anyway as you're highly unlikely to burst into flame :) TOTB is a pretty laid back affair in respect of 'rulebooks' and one of the reasons that it's so popular. And probably the best value in motorsport anywhere.

Just been given a dvd of totb 2, by a mechanic at work, slightly concerned I'm out of my depth hah there were some scary cars running that year.

So, how's everyone coming along?

I should be finishing off the new blow-through MAF R&D in the next couple of weeks between mapping Hondas searching for that extra 10bhp. The Zed idles better on my new system with no lambda feedback than the stock MAF with lambda feedback. So far so good. Then I'll be seeing what it does on the dyno before the next round of modifications (new intercoolers & rad setup, new exhaust system, AEM meth injection).

I'm in the middle of putting my new seats. Need to find somewhere to mount the rear harness belts until I get the cage installed.

I've written a shopping list... Unfortunately due to its length and the apparent load of work my zed's going to need it won't be finished for this year, so we'll call it a practice session lol. And it'll either run as is or the na can come.

I will all things going to plan be attempting to make this car should be finished next month at some point

I've had some good results with GTX turbos recently. GTX2860 @ 1.7bar made 613bhp on a single MAF and GTX2863 @ 1.6bar made 570bhp & 577lb·ft) . They definitely require a love of boost to make the good things happen :D
