passenger fog light bulb stopped working for some reason, got a new bulb and went to fit, the new bulb doesn't work... tried 2 new bulbs and checked the fuse which is fine, they both didn't work which makes me think its wiring related :( any one help?

would like to know whats wrong before I spend money on hids to find out they wont work either because its a fault else where

You state you've tried 2 x new bulbs but you haven't seen these actually work.

Suggest you transfer the known working 100% offside bulb into the nearside unit, also have a look for any butchering work hidden under insulation tape.

Three wires go to the front fogs, one is ground which the two bulbs share, one is the live for the H3 fog bulb and the other is the live for the little 501 sidelight bulb.

the new bulbs do work as I was replacing the headlight bulbs at the same time to tried them in there. the wires looked fine going it to the foglight, could there be another connection further up the wire come undone? where do the wires go?

It's a worthwhile tool to invest in. Easy to use for simple fault finding like this and you can get them for less than £3 on eBay etc. It's also handy to have a test lamp to accompany a multimeter in some cases. In this case, is it really quite critical start to your troubleshooting by isolating whether you have a power supply to the connector or not.

I have read you have an import but you must have UK headlights if the H3's are fitting in the dipped ?

just tested the foglight power source mith a multimeter and its getting power but the voltage read like 10 then 11 something and keeps going up and down when the car is off is that normal?

The car was off with both fog lights disconnected when you tested the contacts or was one burning bright ?

Because your supply voltage will drop quite quickly with one running.

Wonder also if you need to move the dial on the meter round a bit more, then you'll get two digits after the decimal point, could just be bouncing around at somewhere at 10.8 to 11.1 for instance with the setting you have it on, so all you see is 10 and 11.

Ive seen ting tong meters out by 10% on voltage tests...to see iff your achieving batt voltage given that maybe you bought cheap then get a bulb holder off something and check with a known good bulb:wink:

yeah car off and fog lights off, it it a cheap meter but when I tested the battery terminals it was 12.20, yeah the decimal point was showing 2 digits before and after.

znut - what do you mean on the 2nd part of your post im not sure I understand? if I cant try anything else I will just get my mechanic to have a look.
