Well new year, new plans,

With my green na having passed it's mot and the tyre replaced after its blowout, i've decided to turn my attention to my swb, and just keep playing with the green one,

to cut a long story short, my mate are supra guys and I've inadvertently started a bit of a competition between my 300 and their Toyota,

I know roughly what I'm doing but not tunned anything to this level before, so assuming I'm a complete novice what would I need to achieve 550-600 bhp? As that's what I'll need to be competitive. I don't want to build it to destruction and there's no deadline, so it want to do it properly.

Here's my current thoughts

Gt675 turbos,

Ba smic

2.5" pipework,

3" exhuast ( I want lambree ultimate downpipes)

Ams manifolds

Dual intake

Now how far do I need to go with the engine? And what else does anyone recommend?

Any comments advice options opinions please,

# the outside is staying as is apart from a bit of tidying, and matching big brakes on the rear.

don't know what the ba SMIC are, but if they are big and have 2.5" in/out that should be fine. Just add at least 740 injectors and a TurboNoz tune :)

PS I have 3" SWB exhaust for sale ;)

Yeah z1 big ass smic,

That was my next question which injectors.

I have a 3" swb cat back imported a z1 pg system. Very noisy opps

And bigger brakes ect...you are at the top of a financial slippery slope and once started will have no control:lol:

What type of competition are you and the Supra taking part in??

Drag racing/ long circuit racing, sprinting, hill climbing??

Or is it just bypass racing or internet racing???

Already has a uprated clutch and radiator, and bigger front brakes, need the matching rears,

Won't be anything formal, although I would like to join in at ten of the best at some point, will just be drag and trackdays,

Although if it's good enough I've friends who do sprint/ hill climb events,

Tbh Its probably an impossible task but I'd like it to be good across the board, not necessarily excel in one area.

New style yellow 615cc injectors are fine at that power level. It can be done on a single MAF as well, but dual intake is always recommended. Forged pistons may be required, or at least highly advisable depending on usage & longevity requirements, as well as the current state of the engine. 613bhp on GTX2860 at 1.6bar. YMMV.

Maybe have a look at what is suitable and realistic for you. Having a highly tuned engine can be great, it also comes with drawbacks. I know you want to be faster than your mate, but 400 on the road is worth 800 constantly in bits if you see what I'm saying. The best weapon against any supra owner is there belief that it's the fastest car Eva blud

A friend of mine was boasting about his friend with a supra and having about 500bhp,

My zed is only chipped and running around 1bar,

I took him out in the zed and his reckons the zed would leave it especially on a bendy road,

His put 1 great big turbo on it and its auto and its laggy,

so other then high in the revs its crap, but zed pulls all the way through all the gears,

My cousin celica gt4 is similar turbo is so big 1st and 2nd are usless lol...

Maybe work out where u want it faster, down the pub with 1000bhp for 1000rpm or 500bhp for 5000rpm.

On the road I'd rather the 500bhp and a twisty track would probably be the same,

But when them big turbos kick in it does fill good my cousins celica is like nothing, nothing, nothing oh shit lol...and feels so fast but next to my zed it doesn't actually pull away the zed is steady all the way through without that big kick...

Having not had anything with that kind of power before I'm just going on paper of what I'd like and what would in theory be competitive within my circle,

Guess I could build it in stages, see where I like it, its only 300bhp at the moment don't even think it could complete against my na round brands indy.

That could be fun actually, might rope a mate in for some testing.

If it's tuned to be able to hit the 600 mark, is it as simple as turning the boost down if I don't want so much power? Or do I need to be able to switch maps?

You just need one Noz map, an electronic boost controller will have switchable hi/lo settings :cool3:.

Switchable maps are only required when running methanol/water injection, nitrous or for a 95/99 RON option etc.

There are a few other reasons for having switchable maps other than outright performance. Eg a valet/garage/loan mode whereby speed etc is limited.

That's true, but it's much easier not to take it to a garage that has no respect for your property :wack:
