Thanks, not seen that before.

Pretty good, apart from

While the regular 300ZX could be had in 2 seat or 2+2 form, as well as a convertible, Nissan only ever put the VG30DETT engine in 2-seat hard top cars. So if you needed a back seat, you'd need a Supra or VR-4 - although the back seats on both of those were more of a joke than a practical consideration, perhaps to keep insurance lower.

yes that bit didn't make sence. its safe to say they can all be tuned up to make the same bhp over all. also the skyline should have been in the list to

Skyline was never officially imported into the States.

Nice read.

Questions, I imagine the 0-60 time of 5 seconds stated for the 300ZX tt would only apply to the short wheel base 2 seater?

What would the LWB 2+2 have been?

all the cars in 100% bone stock the supra is the winner on paper. but when it comes to tuned the cars up witch one is the best ? or is it case of there all as good as each other ?

I still think the Z32 is the best of the lot. I quite like the Supra, but it looks like a big jellybean and has a hideous dashboard. I prefer its previous iteration as a visual piece. Mechanically, it's a great car, but I've never favoured the sound of an I-6 over the offset burble of the V6.

I do like all 4 though, but some more than others and it was the reason I bought the Z32 in the first place. I have always loved its appearance, the noise it makes and its exclusivity. :)

Nice write-up and thanks for sharing.

I think in looks stock wise the supra looks a little better but the z32 with the rite wheel and the odd bits here and there then looks better than the supra. a black rx7 looks great also do like the look of the 3000gt. witch one has the best engine tho. the best built ? I have seen many a big bhp supra but not as many z32s. I have had a long think about mine when the time comes to do the engine I want say 650bhp at the wheels.

The 2JE is a stronger engine and tuning is easier, but the VG30 is a very robust engine if looked after and tuned correctly. The 2JE is less complex, so there are less variables. The RX-7's ****el unit whilst interesting and tuneable isn't known for its reliability. The 3000GT is on par with Z32 on an unbiased view. Out of all, the Supra is the better built car, but that doesn't make it paramount for me. :)

I would have a supra my mate has one it looks nice but if you see a z32 coming down the road a nice one that is not a old dog is it does look a bit more supercar looking and does not look like its from the 90s. a nice one looks like it from the future but a bad one I have to admit looks like it should be on a scrap heap

In stock form:

2JZ, then VG & 6G72, then 13B.

In fully tuned form, the 2JZ is the strongest.

Tuning is easiest with the Nissan platforms, no need for a standalone ECU as the Z32 comes with a fully mappable one from the factory

how far behind in the vg from the 2JZ in fully tuned format

Thing is, the supra has a lot more companies who make parts for it etc. ID say the supra is the better/strong car in stock and tuned. Still love the zed tho but I would like a supra too

I do like the supra. but I have to say I have seen more supras about when driving round than I have seen z32s in fact this last year I have seen 3 supras and no z32s very odd being there are less supras about or have the tables turned now

Blame fast and furious. If they have a sorted zed as the main car, you'd see a better following and a higher price tag. That being said though, I'm not sure a Zed would have looked as good in the movie

You know what, I am glad they didn't use the Z32 (the original story that F&F was based on was actually written about the Z32), imagine how many more of these we would have seen on the roads....

I'm guessing they mean, non convertible. Rather than the slicktop. In yanky land all Lwb us spec cars are na, tt are swb only. If corse verts are all na too. Just badly worded I think.

Not strictly true. You could also order Stramann Z32 Twin Turbo convertibles through select Nissan dealerships which were heavily reworked hard too vehicles. Sure, they never came out of the factory like that, but it was possible to buy them direct from Nissan as a 'new' car.
