Hi Terry, the door sail on my car has been damaged at some point, the black part that the glass runs up, seen a vert in a breakers yard on ebay and was wondering if it would do for mine.

Isn't the sail part removable? I was under the impression you could interchange between swb and LWB by changing the sail and window but it's not a fun job. Maybe someone could clarify that?

I can look tomorrow as i have both sat outside

One obvious difference would be if the slicktop is an early series with door mounted seat belt and the vert has seat belts on the chasis

Vert in a breakers?

As mentioned, I read that the swb and lwb doorshells are the same (ie- doors are same length) it's the glass and other ancillaries that are different.

Hi Ian, seat belt mounting is not a problem mine is a 95 so either will fit, it's in a breakers in Essex I can post a link up if your interested, it's been in a slight accident and looks like it's been parked under a tree for a few years.

Yes it would be good of you Ian if you can confirm they are the same.

cheers Paul

It's the door sail that is shorter on a swb model because the roof line is lower.

I just had a look at my shorty, I didnt realise the sail is welded onto the doorshell, I thought they were bolted and interchangeable.

Ah, i was interested in the roof, think i'll pass

Hi bid can you ask him about the boot lid and the plates that the hood hooks into at the front pillars. Cheers.

I asked months ago about that car as I wanted a long term project and didn't get a reply back

Sorry for the delay replying, forgot the slictop was at work, didnt see the point in comparing the vert to the company transit.

Anyway, had a good look now and a bit of a measure and they seem identical, i couldnt work out a good way to measure the curve of the top of the glass, but it looks the same.

Only difference is an extra locating pin on the vert at the catch end, but that just unbolts

I thought all verts were series 2,3 or 4, so should all have doors without sat belts

Hi Chris, I'm interested in the passenger ( offside) door and the speedo cluster, if you could find out the condition of them and the price, that would be great.

cheers Paul
