Looks like a clean example.

Hello & welcome. You've had some nice cars according to your PhotoBucket!

P.S. Your offside alloy is on the wrong side :D

Still have my evo 6, awesome cars :)

I plan on getting new wheels for it anyways :D ive no idea where to go power wise with these cars though

400bhp & 400+lb·ft is nice & easy on stock 370cc injectors & TB022 turbos. The key to these engines is allowing them to breathe as they are so restricted in standard form.

Full exhaust system (divorced turbo elbows, decats, cat back, all 2.5" diameter)

Air filter(s)

Uprated side mount intercoolers or FMIC

Boost controller1

NGK BKR7E or BKR7EIX spark plugs2

Nistune ECU

Also worth considering:

Uprated fuel pump (320lph)

Dual intakes

2.5" intercooler pipework

JECS/NISMO 555cc injectors

1Boost required will depend on the BSFC of the engine (ie how much power it makes for the amount of fuel used). This depends on how efficient the intake & exhaust setups are.

2If you would rather use higher boost levels with less modifications to achieve the power, I would recommend using BCR8ES spark plugs. This will of course increase wear on the turbos, replacement of which typically requires removal of the engine.

The 300zx turbos are TB022 (hybrid T25/T2 units unique to the 300zx) with an A/R 0.63 turbine housing on the manual cars. Boost will drop off in a depressing fashion on a standard set up when increased over standard. You can achieve large torque figures without troubling the fuel system due to this type of boost response and intake design (see my sig for an example). The small turbos simply cannot push the required airflow at higher RPMs. 400bhp & 410-420lb·ft is a common set of figures I've found. The VG is over-square in design (87mm bore vs 83mm stroke), but you don't want to push the revs much higher than the stock 6800rpm. There's no real need to as there isn't a great deal up there to be had unless you've got much larger turbos, uprated valve springs and minimal intake/exhaust restrictions. It's not a lazy engine, but it's no screamer either. I typically set RPM limit to 7000.

My car with stock turbos at 1.7 bar, 481lb·ft @ 3800rpm & rapidly-failing autobox would leave pretty much anything standing (traction allowing) from 40mph - 120mph once the pedal was buried. I miss the response, it was truly rapid and could maintain 140mph at part throttle with ease.

Digressing slightly, one thing I have seen over time are big power Zed builds that quite often seem to run into trouble. I've been around cars for some time, built engines, swapped gearboxes, clutches, bodywork and all the rest, but I refuse to attempt everything on the Zed myself. Jimmer @ PowerZed fitted my latest turbos, clutch, manual conversion, 850cc injectors in a single mad week before TOTB. I wouldn't have my custom intercooler without Steve @ Silverline Racing (no longer trading unfortunately). I have some admiration for those that do attempt everything themselves at home, personally I'm way too fickle to have a car in pieces in the garage rather than on the road, it would get broken for parts in no time (like my old more-door R32 GTR). But it's also puzzling to see, as the standard engine and car in general have so much potential with the stock components. There's a Zed on here that ran around 700bhp on a bone-stock bottom end for final two rounds of Time Attack last season....

Anyway, hope some of that helps :D

The closer it sits to the left hand end of the gauge (with the engine idling), the better. So that picture seems to be ok :)

did u have your foot to the floor when it happened? mine did this turned out boost pipe came off

Has it been running and cut out? If so, leave it 30-60 mins and try. If it fires its possibly the ignition amplifier (PTU) breaking down. (Common) it will probably do the same next time it gets hot enough. Also, give the plug going into the crank angle sensor (circular ally component on front of passenger side cam belt cover) a wiggle. On mine this has had a habit of making poor contact and cutting the engine.

It was after a bit of spirited driving. ECU flashed for code 11, crank angle sensor.

I'll try giving it a wobble and checking connection, the car has done 900 in 6years or so so hasnt been used much at all

Gave the plug a wiggle but still wont start.

Couldnt take the plug off somehow, it wouldnt come off and i didnt want to force it incase i broke the connection
