well had a lovely email from Jimmer

 

the red beasty is now at powerzed its having a new gearbox fitted, some niggly oil leaks fettled and a bad misfire diagnosed

 

turns out the misfire was a fouled plug on cylinder number 1 and she is now running shweeeet !! but ive opted to be better safe than sorry and Jim is fitting a new engine wiring loom , the oil leaks were on the steering resevoir connection and one on the oil cooler, the replacement manual gearbox i bought from Mark is fitted with a spacer from Z1 to shim out the starter motor, just the boost issue to look at wont hold boost past 1.1 bar and the rev meter reading 2000rpm at tickover.

 

while its there i am going for a new 3 inch exhaust system custom made by Infiniti exhausts as the one that came off apart from the tips which i really really liked , the rest looked like Frankenstien had welded it while he was blootered on whisky wearing a blindfold and using a pogo stick ...the passenger side silencer didnt even have a fastener mounting bracket on it.....i would put some pics up but it would just make me sad knowing what i had paid for it ....

 

it left Noz with 473 RWBHP 527 at the fly so im hoping to see 500 at the wheels minus the cat and with some extra bost .....go baby go !!!!

 

when she is finished i will post up some pics and enjoy .............finally !!!

I had a good look around under your Z last weekend! :) Must say, it does look good. I did notice that exhaust! More holes in it than a colander! The car is in safe hands! :)

I had an Infinitiy exhaust put on mine recently when it was at Jim's they do a top job!

Big Big brakes to stop it ....oh and 3 inch custom exhaust going on

well another update...spoke to Jimmer and after having the crap gearbox replaced, jimmer found the two oil leaks and then a gap in te weld on the brand new PE1420 drivers tubbie ..giving me a massive boost leak..so its all been done, however the not so good news...the compression is well down on 3 cylinders so its an engine out job and a big inspection to find the cause.....hope its the cylinder head or valves .....this is a nightmare.

 

im having 3 inch intercooler peipes made up and fitted while the engine is out ...Jimmer is a top bloke to deal with and i know when i do eventually get it back.............whenever that will be ....it will be right and done for good

 

cant believe the amount of bad luck i have had but those that know me also know i wont give up at all...............

Keep at it Steve! I saw your engine at the weekend. It's in very safe hands. Most blocks get a rehone for rebuilding purposes. It'll be right as rain before you know it.

Yeah your right Si. Just a knee jerk reaction I think ,fed up and deflated. ....funds are running low though mate ..been speaking to Jim today its black but not pitch black ....ho hum

had a chat to Jim, its going to cost a few grand on top of the thousands spent getting it rebuilt only 450 miles ago ......luckily rods and tubs and injectors and IC are ok pistons may be savable but needs new rings and bearings...to replace the accel bearings that have only done 450 miles .....a new gasket set ,etc etc ....to replace teh set only 450 miles old.....seething !!!

engine out and engine in and all the fecking on that goes with it......thank god Jimmer has got it
