Hi all,

Put car through MOT today and ony failed on rear fogs not working , and hand brake efficiency. I haven't looked yet but is there a fuse for rear fogs? the front work, so was wondering if its a separate fuse? also I noticed that with the main lights off, if I press the fog button the front light up and so do the back???? so with the lights on and I turn the fogs on the rear doesn't make any change as in brighter they just look like normal back lights. ...............

any ideas? #

Thanks in advance

All imports only have front fogs and the sidelights do come on once the front fog light button is depressed.

So if you have no after market rear fog fitted i would hazard a guess that you have no rear fog light.

If You have got a rear fog then hunt around for the switch

Mine is hidden right under the dash.....

Ah! I found a small button attached to the steering column ages ago with yellow wire and two reds I followed it and it led me to the back lights! I thought that was some rear center panel mod which had been removed!! Maybe that was the fog switch! Anyone know how to wire it? I still have the red wires joined to both rear lights... Just the yellow one I removed which was connected somewhere in behind the dash.. Odd though same garage I used last year and it passed! I've asked what's different as they passed it without last year scratching their heads lol I can't complain really two years and she's gone pretty much straight through not bad for a 25 year old :)

Have a little check down by the rear bumper, I wouldn't be surprised if someone has just removed the fog light, it's highly likely one has been fitted at some point to allow the car to be registered and MOT'd. I take it, it is an import?

Good point. As my rear fog is removed after mot plus the switch you found should light up when on.

From what i can gather it sounds like you have some wire or wires going to the 21w brake light part in your rear lights, these will suffice for a bright fog light.

However, you say you have a yellow wire disconnected, this will either be a ground or will need connecting to your side light circuit to give the switch some power for it to light up something at the rear.

EDIT: Oh....and your fog light switch needs to be one with a led indication ?

Is there not a nice tidy way to use the power output from the front fogs to power the rear, must be.

I spliced into the front fog circuit for my rear fogs. Simple job, I also linked it into the rear fog indication lamp on my UK cluster as 'strictly speaking' this is also an MOT requirement.

I only connect up my rear fogs for MOT time by switching over the terminals in my centre reverse light panel which have the LED fog and reverse boards installed.
