Having been reading up on things recently I noticed that upon inspection my heads are stamped 10Y, not 40p which from my understanding are late spec NA heads...I paid a lot of money a few years back and got ripped off, now it turns out I may have been ripped off even more than I realised. Not happy and need to work out for sure either way. It looks like il be throwing this engine in the bin at this rate.

Where and how do my legal rights stand? I paid for a twinturbo engine supplied and fitted, not only was it fitted poorly and I had to pay zedworld to set it up correctly, but I actually didn't receive the goods I paid for.

It was about 4 years ago, I do still have the orginal advert, receipt and various emails regarding my complaints as to how it was fitted and there behaviour etc. They are still trading.

I think you'd have to take the paper work to a solicitor so that they could confirm exactly where you stand.

Since I had a similar thing happen to me (by way of buying a car that wasn't as the owner thought), unfortunately for me the culprits had stop trading...

So I guess it needs to very clear in the add & receipt that they have agreed and charged you for something different to what they have delivered.

best of luck..

Sorry to hear that mate, you're not the only one though, every member on here will have stories of going to garages and getting conned. My bodymech respray was needed to sort out a botch job. Only about a year ago I paid a man good money to future-proof my car, no rust he said! Took the skirts off and had a look he said. So sad that us trusting people can be seen off by people who will paper over cracks, or use tooth paste rather than plaster and shake our hands afterwards with a smile cash in their till.

I hope you get somewhere with them, but they won't make it easy, in the hope you will back down. With a bit of luck you will be able to even the score for the ripped off masses in this case :clover:

Tbh Gary I also think that, they will probably just turn round and say price it's the same engine etc. Plus the ignorance of the system, you paid for a 300zx engine, that's what you got is it not? I can see it now. I need to be 110% what I've got and them go from there, that engine smokes in any event

Its so hard to get companies you can trust to do a good job. I need my timing belt done and Jeff is to far for me so going to have to trust a local garage near me who has done the z32 belt before. Wish me luck.

I reckon you're right there Steve; a lot could have happened in 4 years mate and if that's the garage's defence, that might be enough to cast reasonable doubt in their favour, in court:sad:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

It's pretty simple sale of goods act stuff, however time is on their side :( that engine doesn't look anything like what I was sold with all the deletes and new parts. It's looking like I might have na heads on a TT block, gotta check the piston stamps. Tax ran out today, so winter bed time now. Probably just drive it next season till it let's go as I can't afford to rebuild it right now. Unless I find a cheap replacement block in which case il throw that in over winter.

IIRC you can use NA heads on a TT, but the cams and valves would need to be TT or may be just the valves that are made of a harder material. will check lol

Exhaust valves are a different material, all cams are the same aside from TT auto cams which have 8 degrees less duration, it's to reduce lag times and put less stress on the trans apparently. Bottom end is pretty similar only the pistons, wrist pins and oil squirters differ. The pistons for TT are labeled 30p1 and are domed, na pistons have a pronounced step and larger groves for the valves labeled 30p. Not to be confused with the 30p label on early NA heads which later became 10y, the TT heads are labeled 40p and later 48p.

;) I've been reading

Before i even take a pic lol i can confirm my piston crowns are stepped (NA) i have a couple of sets of heads which both have 30p stamped.

Wonderful lol, I'm picking up a bore scope from gaz on Tuesday to check them :) bloody car, I've gone beyond annoyed now back to laughter and industrious let's sort it out attitude.

That's the one :) tt pistons have a little oil week in them aswel for extra cooling. Hopefully it is a TT bottom end.

i used to get bored with mine when it was,nt in need of work and still do with my other rides i have:clown:

Lol yup I want it out now and in the bench. Patience though as I need to carefully plan my next move. Haste makes mess.

Why don't you pull the engine, fit TT pistons with new rings and bearings and TT heads.....

The NA block has better oil squirters from what I was told.... Someone on here must have an old set of TT pistons if they have gone forged....

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

Yeah that's an option I've been looking at, problem is it's a late spec NA which means the oil pump if it's an na one isn't convertible it will need replacement. By the time I've brought a gasket kit, rings and bearings I'm rotting up a bit of a bill even without labour, it would also be a bit of a bodge. Or I can buy a replacement block for less money but there's more risk, as it might be fubar too.

Bad news mate - I hope you can work out the best route forward.

Yeah bit of a shitter, I will sort something out though. Fortunately my good mate Gary is pretty resourceful and encouraging between the two of us I'm sure we will work out a solution.

I would be considering taking a hammer or similar to the garage people that did the original dodgy work.
