Evening all, anybody got suggestions on loosing stonechip on rear bumper? Is it moulded into the bumper during manufacture? Does it sand down very well? I personally don't like it and want to loose it before fitting diffuser.

Thanks

Yes it's moulded in on both the front and the rear. The stuff on the sides is some sort of bitumen. The sides are easy to sand, the bumpers are actually quite hard and bind up sanding disks very easily. I had my front sides and rear done about 7 or 8 years ago and it really smartens up the look of the car.

Thanks, thought it was moulded as it's very tough, down to body shop next week then, I only need doors and rear bumper done so shouldn't cost too much hopefully

Front bumper takes an age, but if you're changing it, then you're saving yourself a lot of labour!

The smooth look definitely looks better with the diffuser. It is easy to sand down.

get a grinder with a sanding pad and you will be soon through it. then just a light skim of filler them job done fairly simple

No filler on mine and I'd advise against filler on flexible urethane bumpers!!!

Just get a 120/180 on a da take it pretty smooth then jump to 240 then 320, couple of coats of high build with flex in it,

Leave it dry dust it with a matt black aerosol then block sand i started with 320 up to 800...

As a few have said , it,s urethane so it sands down well going down through the grades but if you have any splits in urathane the only way of gluing it succesfully is with a superglue , QBond which uses micro balloons as a crack filling agent is excellent , it doesn,t take normal body filler well but a proper plastic bumper filler such as PlastX does work . HTH

yeah flexible filler works perfect its what it was made for, kind of stays in a rubber form :)
