Sure this has been asked and covered before. But I can't find it on the search so thought I'd ask again. The previous owner and maker of my Z removed the aircon, all of it. I assume in the pursuit of better cooling. I want it back. From what I can see the only part that could be a problem is the radiator/condenser? Have an aftermarket rad and oil cooler and the car runs fine. Even on hot days. On the odd roasting trackday it creeps up. So do I just put all the stock ac kit back on (what do I need and were does it go?) Or is there a compact ac rad or a smaller 1 off a different car I can plum in out of the main airflow?

Please save the 'I think ac is rubbish and you don't need it' comments. I love my Z but on hot days (only days it gets used) ts like a furnace on long journeys.

Any advice welcome on this. Don't want to sacrifice the cooling of the car, but want ac to complete it as an all round car.

Cheers

Danny

Hi mate,

It shouldn't be that hard maybe see someone like markderby with a breaker and chop all the bits back on to yours...

I done something similar pulled the aircon off threw it all in the bin and now feel the same way wishing i kept it,

Its ok around town with tbars off but on long journeys would be nice to do the windows up, roofs on and hear myself think lol...

So im interested in this too...

Me too.

I have everything in place, I would just like to understand the exact layout so as to detect the leak.

It would also help me locate the location of the overall system.

Here's the AC diagram

That's a great diagram. We're does all that stuff dwell? Assume there's something behind the dash? So dash out? How hot does the air con rad get. Is it going to affect cooling to the main rad?

Cheers guys.

I've just had my ac fettled to get it working after a few years. The condenser and dryer arrangements are not really obtainable (tried MJP etc here). The US ones can apparently be made to fit but....

Anyhow a local AC magician sourced suitable parts (condenser from a combine harvester!) and made up the pipework to fit. The AC compressor was goosed so he sent that away to be repaired and new seals fitted. Thankfully all the internal temperature control flaps still worked so the end result was a system which can turn the interior into a fridge! The condenser sits in front of the radiator - so it is a little vulnerable. I have a larger aluminium radiator and so have no cooling worries. The car has been to France and run perfectly in 35 deg C so I doubt the condenser has a particularly negative effect.
