I purchased this Greddy item to replace the standard plug but am having problems with it continually leaking! Firstly I torqued it to the lower of the FSM settings and the next day was greeted by a puddle of oil on the floor and after tightening further it still seeps.

It comes with a steel washer, I'm guessing that's what's causing the problem and should be swapped for a brass one? Anyone had the same problem?

buy a oem nissan one with new copper washer job done

I've still got the OEM but wanted a magnetic one. I'll have to drain it and get a copper washer then....:turned:

As above. You need a compression washer. Unless you have a brand new or perfect sump, you won't get the seal. I personally would just with the OEM sump plug. You should have gotten a copper compression washer with the oil filter?

Ah yeah good point I'll have to see if that's in the bag of randomness, failing that I've another filter somewhere. Cheers

Yeah Mike will get a call if I can't find one :yes:

I've used a little threading tape on my sump plug, gearbox plug and diff plugs, nothings leaking yet, so an option if you still have a leak after a copper crush washer.

loosen bolt slightly, wrap some ptfe tape round thread a few times and then torque back up.........

Watching my Z disintegrate on my driveway!!!

PTFE tape won't melt! Every central heating system in the UK is sealed with the stuff!

I Spose when you put it like that, but how hot is your central heating water 80c? Oils gonna be what 110c?

Out if interest I googled it, ptfe has a melting point of 327c! Even then it doesn't really melt but turn into a gel. It does however start to degrade over 260c for a plastic that's seriously hot.

I've just found the crush washer that came with the filter and swapped it over. I'll check tomorrow but I'm sure that'll have done the trick, cheers chaps

Next time you need another copper washer just heat the used one you have to just before cherry red and anneal it (makes it soft and crushable again);)
