Well, whatdayathink?

Seems I'm on my own on this one, as the rest of the country thinks that she was the second comming of the Virgin Mary.

As far as I can see, she was a dim little Lady No-one hanging around Sloan Square. Went into a difficult/impossible marriage with her eyes open. Cultivated the media and the fashion world.

Signed her name on a few worthy charities, shook hands with an AIDS sufferer, and spent the rest of the time seeing how many different knobs she could get up her!

All these revelations come out about all the guy's she had been with and no-one points the finger! To my mind she was worse than JORDAN!

Agree 110%, what a waste of space, stupid primary school teacher! (No offence to any primary school teachers, but you don't need to be brain of britain).

Talkin' of which, Diana is currently second in The Greatest Britain prog on BBC, ffs, what is wrong with this country? This woman did nothing of any merit or even slightly beneficial to the UK. Oh and Prince Harry looks just like dad doesn't he. (Now where's that picture of Hewitt?).

What an excellent choice she made, the multi-millionaire son of an Egyptian grocer who can't get a UK passport regardless of how much money he offers. Would have made an excellent dad to the future king wouldn't he?

Still better than the Royal Family, but then no one can complain because of the income they generate.

The Offical Royal Website is the most visited non-porn site in the world. Visiters come to this country to see places like Buckingham palace, St. James palace, Windsor Castle along with all the other sites mostly in London. People complain but the we get more out of the Royal Family than they take out.

Stuart

I'm a bit of a fan of our Royal family, if for no other reason than the fact that the rest of the world wishes they still had one! I think they do a lot of good trade wise, and remind the rest of the world that we are still here. Yup, they're as screwed up as the next family, I don't have a problem with that......

it's just that bloody DIANA I can't stand.

She lived, she married, she looked coy and cute in a load of pictures, she joined a couple of charities, she schemed and plotted, shagged her way around Mayfair, South of France and North Africa and then she died.

In 50 years she'll be remembered as 'that pretty blonde who was married to Charles', not as some Mother Teresa type character who saved thousands/millions.

Agree with you again! I'm a monarchist, however disfunctional the family may be. The Queen had done nothing to disgrace this country in her 50 year reign, shame the same can't be said for some of the others, never mind long may we have a monarchy.

Looking at the above posts, who exactly are you suggesting hasn't got over it ?

Not a Primary School teacher, not even a Junior School teacher or even an Infant School teacher IIRC. Wasn't it a child minder, creche, under school age type thing ??? What do they call those, playgroups ?

The 10 squillion muppets that are voting her into top place in the 100 Greatest Britons thingy.

The readers of the Mirror/Sun/Express/Mail

People who look at the pictures in Hello/OK etc. (I don't belive they can read)

Etc. Etc. Etc.

Surely everyone should be voting for Brunel - now he really achieved stuff and the majority of it is still in use today (boats and trains excepted!)

Damn - AndyP got there first. Quite right - IK Brunel deserves to head the poll so keep voting guys.

I used to be quite a monarchist but the Di fiasco turned me into a republican. Not so much the Royals but more the class-ridden flunkey-dom of chinless wonders that think that they are better than us just because their ancestors were bigger bastards than anyone else.

The next time some upper class twit patronises me, I think I'll be tempted to do something non-Buddhist.

And some are born with far more chains than others lol

Now being a foreigner and seeing the whole Royal lot from an outsider point of view.

The general concensus is that DI was the best and the rest blew chunks and slept with each other.

Just to bring an otherwise well-argued topic down to playground level ...

Anyone remember what car Diana was originally always pictured in, when news of the Royal "romance" broke?

A bloody Metro!:D

What was any (Aston-driving) future King thinking about marrying a bird in a Metro?? - Oh yeah - he talks to plants, doesn't he?

Need I say more?:D

CheerZ,

Petty-John.

Nah mate, you're wrong there.............I'm sure his trains are still running:D :D :D :D :D

I don't want to comment on any of the sentiments above.

My comment is: Learning that Brunel was behind Princess Di in this poll, I immediately thought how could Brunel, who had achieved so many tangible things through a lifetime, be thought less than Princess Di (who helped advertise and endorse the work of others - hopefully believed strongly in the causes as well).

My second thought was, what is a "Briton" - any thoughts?

Fyi, Brunel was born in Southsea. His mother was English, and his father was a French engineer, who fled to this country during the French Revolution (French monarchist). Brunel (Isambard Kingdom) was educated both here and in France, and his apprenticeship was with Breguet.

There must be something unforgivable about burning cakes!:D

A mate of mine was in the Household Cavalry(tanks) and used to see Di when she visited the barracks(regularly) to see Hewitt,he was an officer there.

He also said when Hewitt was away, she still visited and saw other officers!

Make of that what you will but 'virgin mary',well nuff said!

F.T.

the saddest sight in the world is people crying over Di or any of the royal family for that matter, they would certainly not cry for you. When you see crowds of people most probably on minimum wage standing waving flags as the queen goes by it makes you realise what muppets most of the british public are. Anyone who looks up to the royals is lacking in self respect and dignity. Ask yourself why should you bow and snivvel to them what makes them better than you. Its only because they tell you they are and have been doing so for hundreds of years.

People need to wake up and stop being led like sheep.

The only royal i respect is Jim Royle....my arse :D

Tim

A combination of mass hysteria, ignorance and stupidity propel Di up the ratings.

she was treading on very thin ice in a glass house by openly criticising the other Royals. She was probably quite a nice person, but isn't that fairly easy when you're a Princess ?...and how many other fairly nice people are there in Britain ?!

I'm certainly not a royalist, believing them to be the biggest anachronism going in the UK. They are undemocratic and respesent a past age where they wielded power over the masses in often brutal ways, and a cruelly unfair class system was the order of the day; which they REPRESENTED and SUPPORTED !!

As for them bringing money in, I can't see how that is a real argument for paying them shed loads of money !!

Keep the buildings by all means, but keep the servants, hangers on, relations in ridiculous wealth etc. etc. NO !!

do you honestly and truly believe the ammount of money this goverment pay them is more than the tourist income they generate on a yearly basis? come on, the entire tourist industry in this country is based on the royal family, take it from me a tourist in the first place ,we certainly dont come to this country for the weather or anything else come to think of it, except for ... to see royalty and history all within relation to the royal family.

American are in love with the roayl idea and they form a massive part of your tourist industry.

If we had public executions, and people came to see that in droves...would it make it OK ?

Are you saying that if we got rid of the Royal Family, that we would also rid ourselves of American and South African tourists?

I see a pattern emerging here ;)

Hehe

ahh cmon lads your not been fair here, now dont get me wrong i aint into the royal family at all , but your forgetting what di did ,

She did a lot for cancer charities and would visit these terminally ill people in hospital and make them feel special :) , she would goto the poorly children and hold them and talk to them in hospital , then she did a lot internationally , ok now you can say she did this bcoz of who she was and had to but i say thats wrong , she did this because she wanted to and also knew she had the influence to make a difference , apart from Di and charles who he has also done a lot the other members of the royal family do F**K all , i mean i dont want to really sit here and name the ones who just live off who they are and do nothing but im sure u can guess, maybe she shouldnt be in the 100 , but cmon she did do a lot , but yes i do agree when she died i think it was a little OTT what happened around the world and in this country , but there again her brother soon cashed in on it didnt he

  • 2 years later...
