Front grill styling discussion.

I have had what I think is a great idea :)

My front grill is silvery metal painted black. It has obviously gone silver again and any painted metal will do the same.

What if I added a touch of class (by "I", obviously I mean Darren) by using something like this instead.

Please discuss, I don't want it to be a 'feature' just a pleasant surprise if anyone inspects it, a nice touch, something to make a petrol-head dip their neck in a car park, like when you spot an intercooler winking at you from inside the mouth of an mx5.

I have seen this mesh for sale some were looks very nice

Great idea, will look awesome. But will it offer significant protection to what's behind?

I use the hexagonal stuff, the formed plastic ones are good but not exactly cheap

Glad people don't think it will look too Audi, or tacky. I can see it looking really smart.

All 3 front holes filled with the stuff?

Hexagons, a subtle nod to the V6?

Had it fitted to my 350z when I had the Amuse front bumper. Looked smart.

No reason why it wouldn't look good on yours.

Check your PM's btw.

I HATE mesh with a passion! I'd say rip it out. You can get some half decent stuff, but it needs to be plastic or powdercoated black as pictured above. Mesh is not and never will be an attractive styling feature. I think getting rid of the snout would also really smarten the lines of the front up a lot. :)

Ah, the misplaced F40 nostrils Si? Well funny you should say that. I am painting a stock one up myself. I know Bodymech are doing a full job on it, but I wanted to do a small piece myself, my mark on the car. I have done a lot myself, I have paid to have a lot done for me. But I have done some of each aspect of the build myself.

And when it looks like finger painting, I'll post it to Bodymech to re-do

I spose the snout looks alright to me, because in my head I drive...

Well my stick on isn't legal, BUT, it is the right font, spacing, size and reflectivity. Is 3/4 size stick on gona get me into a roadside discussion?

It's stick on though, that's the problem! lol ;)

My 3/4 sized plate has been on the car for YEARS, neigh on a decade, I haven't once been picked up on it at MOT time NOR have I been pulled over about it.

It's a tricky zed problem isn't it, I would rather not have one at all, but felt it was the best of a bad bunch. I don't like the 'in the window' plate, didn't wan't to cover a grille, or have it to the side like an Evo. I would consider a small one but don't want to push it too far.

A chap locally has a DVLA letter for his S15 after getting a hard time from the cops, he produces that now and since the debacle to begin with which saw him get hauled in after insisting it was legal, he got an apology letter and some money for new sticky pads lol. Surely if we can get one if those letters the club is home free.

You won't have a problem with the 3/4 plate, I NEVER have. I don't think JoelyP has either.

It restricts virtually no airflow, none that would be of any detriment to the cooling anyway. There are plenty of people running around with stock OEM bumpers in the US and some with license plates on them that run HUGE power with absolutely no issues with cooling.

Already found it Tom!-not cheap tho' more expensive than the metal stuff.........

I think I must be the only person to ever be stopped for running a 3/4 plate!

£60 spot fine.

I think having a 5 digit plate makes mine kinda look normal. If you have the full 7 digits, then it's noticeably small.

It was my private plate - "L3 XXD" lol

Pulled by an undercover car. Claimed his ANPR couldn't read my plate because it was too small.
