A massive big thanks to automozds Mark derby. yesterday i drove my car 150 miles from Marks place in nottingham to norwich and quiet frankly i could have drove it from scotland to home because i was enjoying myself so much. by the time i got home a had a perminant smile on my face from ear to ear. the car somwhow feels lighter and crisper is an under statment. even with the ebc of the car pulls like a express train. she keeps on going tell i run out of road. that must be one of the best mods you could possibly do to a zed, and i dont even need to turn on the ebc, seriously. you dont need to crank up the boost. the rear end did kick out on the way home as im getting more confident with it, because it was chucking it down all the way home on and of. when the rear did come loose it was more controlable by miles, comming out of junctions given it some, the car didnt feel like it was going to spin one way and snatch. you get to feel whats going on and steer acordanly to put right or play. felt safe going sidways up the road. were as beforethe car felt to unpredictable. on overtaking rather than timming a secound before putting your foot down and having a delayed reaction whilst the boost came in. now you put your foot down and you gone. the fist time i went to overtake i nearly ramed the car in front wasnt exspecting to car to go go. its like a supercharger not a turbo charger. whislt my car was there i also had all the bearings done on the bottom end of the engine. no real reason but apart from peace of mind on a motor that has done 88k , whilst there it was compleatly underseald as well, alone with some other jobs that i had done. What i had done? he has not only deleated the hicas but compleatly removed all that gunph and replaced the whole rear end with a N.A rear end, compleatly replacing the lot. well done mark my cars feels like a compleatly new toy. and i have to say also thanks to your chap that works for you as well. well done chaps. with that result you have just guaranteed of of my future work that i need doing. top bloke, top job.

It is awesome. Now mine is back on the road I'm starting to see just how good a mod it is. Best £2000 I've spent so far...

2000 for an NA diff conversion !

would it not be better just to get an aftermarket diff ?

I know of an 08 bmw 318 which had a new timing chain and tensioner fitted cause the tensioner failed (hadnt actually jumped timing). No head off etc, just front casings.

BM dealer took 2days and £2k. You got a bargain!

I'd say it's a reasonable number if you throw in a custom single piece prop, renewed bushings throughout and all new adjustable control arms etc?

Exactly, that's the cost to do it properly so I'll not have to return and replace anything for quite a while...

Btw, it included the strip and powder coat, new wheel bearings, Z1 alu prop, Z1 solid diff and sub frame bushes, poly else where and anything from driftworks that would fit.

I surprised you didn't spend more, theres about 600 in arms alone on the rear and the wheel bearings are dang expensive iirc.

that's a fair price I did mine myself full rip down and rebuild with bushes and powder coat and its a lot of work to do does not luck like much till you start it.

I didn't realise you had that much work done, I thought it was just an NA diff swap !

and like i said i also had all the shells and rod bearings done aswell. no exspence speared. if your going to do it, do it right.

new shells fitted.jpg

there was a few jobs in hand that needed doing ..

was lucky that it was decided to do the engine bearings as 2 of the Main ones was to the point wanting to Spin

one of them looks to have been standing for long time with contaminated oil as it had Eaten the bearings

others was just down to ware and tare

Well that was more luck than judgment really. I just thought with the car sitting for a copule of years prior to me working on it and done 88k now was the time to do. Hey guess i was right. And now peace of mind.

mark post up more pics of z engines when you have them apart its very intresting to see

the only problem with that is im not with in the trade rules to advertise that i own a car garage and do work on Zed's

even tho i dont specialize in 300zx car .. but Any High performance car from 80's to modern day

it just happens i do work on them and know a fair bit too

will have to see what happens see if things change for the better for everyone ... Not the Few :)

Mark

oh by the way .. the bearings swap on this engine was done without removing it .. haha

Lol I have never seen so many boarder line posts about a trader who is not a garage trader but owns a garage  you guys crack me up some times. But Mark is right rules are rules so stop pushing the envelope guys and stop harassing him to break the rules.:slap:
