A very unusual event is taking place this year with the Canadian Lancaster flying to the UK and

displaying with our own BBMF Lancaster at a number of air displays in August. These are the only

two remaining airworthy Lancasters in the world.

For those of you who are into watching (and hearing) WW2 piston engine aircraft this is something

not to be missed. The sight and sound of eight merlin engines in two Lancasters roaring overhead in

the UK skies may never happen again.

Absolutely can't wait for it, I work about 10 miles away from where the BBMF is stationed so hoping to see them both quite a bit! :)

  • 1 month later...

Such a shame her flight path won't be anywhere near me!

WW2 Piston engine planes just sound simply glorious. My parents live in Glastonbury, right on the edge of the town and their back garden is pretty much the entire Somerset levels (they're on the side of a hill - so no flooding), but before and after Yeovilton, those that have been displaying there fly back through and pretty much over the top of my parents' house at quite low levels and the noise is sublime! The wonderful deep droan as they pass overhead.

It's been delayed slightly but hoping to see them all in the next hour or so, red arrows, 2 lancs and the rest of the BBMF coming over Lincoln together.

That link is for 2013? The tour schedule has her in maintenance at the BBMF.

I thought you were referring to the Canadian Lancaster, when you said "Lancaster bomber"!

Anyway CGVRA has landed safely at RAF Coningsby.

Ah sorry Andrew we are getting mixed up in our Lancasters. Hope the wrather is good tomorrow for some pics.

I have them flying over mine on the 24th. Living in the flying area of Duxford air museum all my life I've seen the Lancaster fly more time than I could think but still always stop to look.

We're going to the Syell Air show on the 17th and they're going to be there
