So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

 

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

 

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

 

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

 

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

 

So here she is as I bought her :

 

 

 

Next task is to hook up the vac system but again a bit lost with the carbon canister.

 

I have three pipes shown below but not understanding the usual vac diagrams as they don't

show the carbon canister and no - I don't want to delete it.

Did I mention I also fitted my Bose speaker Grills ?

 

I've got them for the front and rears but only fitted the rears so far.

 

 

Few more jobs done today; installed new break and clutch vacuum pipes :

 

 

Fitted the throttle linkage covers :

 

 

Reinstalled the Maf and air filter, this is my fav shot :

 

Also rebuilt the top of the plenum, so that's the balance bar bolted down,

the fuel rail installed and hooked up the fuel filter too.

Are the throttle linkage covers standard and just polished up or aftermarket??

Don't think they are standard but only the series 4 and higher zeds have the mounts for them.

Only had an hour at the garage today due to weather conditions but I managed to wire

up my two horns and test fit my bumper again.

 

Must say I was very excited to see the bumper on for the first time in over 6 months.

 

Just need to properly bolt it on and fit my new fog and side lights.

 

 

Also placed the centre panel in too to see the final look but need to fit the rubbers to it.

 

 

Pity you hadn't a bigger garage mate then you could work away at it inside but great work so far and its getting there.

I would love to have my own garage then my wife wouldn't ever see me :)

 

I have been keeping an eye out for one but very rare around where I stay and very expensive too.

Yes I was going to comment on your garage. Not only are you making a superb job of this, but I think given your limited facilities it's an even greater achievement. Reckon you got quite a few admirers, and rightly so!

Fogs and Indicators now fitted along with the rubbers for the center panel.

 

Have an alignment issue with the bumper and I cant seem to get it to fit.

 

Sneaky suspicion its to do with the support bar that bolts to the center panel area as it looks out of shape.

The zed got christened today as had a sudden downpour while it was pushed out the garage.

 

This is the first time its been wet since the respray but not so bad as it washed off a lot of dust particles.

 

A moment to make Si proud, going back to my oem steering wheel.

 

Just need to find a new horn loom part as that's missing from this one.
