So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment.

 

Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that

I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32.

 

After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan.

 

So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report.

 

Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now then showing the

strip down and all the bad luck I've had.

I might have to agree, black looks too aggressive and don't think goes with the body colour, it's for another day as i bet your itching to get it all finished but i'd be looking at powder coat chrome, certainly something along those lines.

Not much been happening on my zed for a while now as my work and bad weather has stopped me from working on it.

 

But after getting a spare plenum from Andy (cheers) I decided to give it a deep bath and scrub.

 

After searching through the local BnQ's and HomeBases I finally managed to find a tub that's perfect for the job.

 

 

5 Buckets of boiling water later she's still only 1/2 full.

 

 

Took a good 20 minutes of filling buckets and boiling the kettle to get a nice hot bath going.

 

 

I plan to steep the hole lot over night like this then tomorrow I have a paint on degreaser that i'll

try out also.

 

Meanwhile the current plenum is about to be boxed up and sent up north for a full polish too.

 

As these are series 4 plenums and generally hard to get hold of I wanted two to be sure my zed

would still be operational while one was away getting polished.

 

Wasn't taking any risks.

Personally if I saw a bird on my zed I would have shot it before it crap'd on the paintwork.

Lee the car looks brilliant mate

not done an update of my zed progress for a while but more goodies are on there way.

 

Just replaced all the targa rubbers for brand spankin new ones and big order for z1 is

currently on its way.

 

Bought new front pipes and a few other bits to go with.

More goodies heading my way shortly.

 

After getting new targa rubbers my good man Luke managed to find me two new rear quarter glass panels.

 

Also have a z1 order clearing customs hopefully today.

New set of z1 hard pipes, cruise stalk, some various fixings and linkage for the throttle bodies.

 

And also a new set of pipes to replace the old oem accordion intercooler pipes.

You going to cut the messy tabs and water pipe take offs?

Nicely done fella :-) I've just ordered their upgraded tt oil cooler, coolant hard pipes for the front of the engine as they have a tendency to corrode and then some plenum seals as they forgot them off the last order :thumbdown:

It was freezing cold but managed to fit my new targa rubbers today.

 

 

 

So thats what they look like new lol, very nice Lee and good to see you are still making progress :thumbup:

They came pre applied with the sikaflex, just peal the sticky tabs off then fit.

And the work to my zed will hopefully be starting again shortly; soon as the weather gets better.

 

For now; today I picked up a few bits and pieces from my painter all done in a lovely purple to match the main paint work.

 

 

 

Can't wait for the finished car Lee it's going to look really nice mate.

Managed to spent a few hours on the zed today although no much to show for it.

 

Bought myself a new set of shiny bolts and fitted the freshly painted cam belt covers.

 

They are matching purple to with the rocker covers and a few other bits.

 

I still haven't decided on what to do with the plenum as yet; for now its stays o' natural

but i'm thinking I should get it polished or powder coated to offset it from the purple.

 

The engine bay is matte black, and various parts as you can see above are purple so what is best ?

I was thinking black but all the pipe work is going black and then the engine bay in general is also black.

 

I might get it powder coated chrome however the throttle bodies can't be done as they have rubber parts.

 

At the moment it just looks very dark so need some bling to brighten it up.
