Having sold my v8 bmw at the start of the year and now driving a crappy diesel bmw I feel its time to change. So I'm thinking of a vauxhall monaro ls2.

I know that fuel economy is crap(not to bad for size of engine) and that they need to be under sealed because of importing from oz.

Anybody had any experience of these cars? Know what to look out for?

Took this photo a few weeks ago, my absolute favourite car of all time. I keep promising myself one but other things keep getting in the way.

I've been in one. As a vehicle....they're a bit 'meh', but awesome to look at. I'd rather shoot for a classic 60s muscle car myself.

Choice for me? 67 Camaro SS

I love the look of the old Trans-am too, but I bet they are very 'classic' to drive, possible even pants! Never meet your Hero and all that.

My father in law owned a 78 until about 2 years ago, I know how they drive. Pretty boring to drive, tbh they're extremely heavy and walloy. But I love them for the theatre of it all, the looks, the noise that classic leaf sprung carbed feel.

You're married Steve!?

I liked the Monaro when they were current and thought of buying one then.... Fortunately I didn't as it would have depreciated to buggery in a short while. They do, however, look a bargain now for what you get.

Would I buy one now? No, probably not. If I wanted to satisfy my V8 craving, it would have to be a decent Porsche 928 s4 or GT/GTS.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

A bit left of field and not as powerful is the MG ZT 260. This has Mustang 4.6 V8 with a very nice noise. Chassis is sorted by Prodrive. Eibach and Bilstein all round. Tremec box, hydratrak lsd diff. Firm but smooth quiet suspension. Less than 900 made. MG probably lost £30k on each one made. Clarkson demonstrated its ability for drifting, probably still on youtube. I had mine since 6k miles and 2006. It is a great character car if a bit thirsty. I also have a 300tt the last 12 years and a 350z roadster. A forced company car and no space means the most sensible one must reluctantly go. On Pistonheads.now.

Trouble with owning a Rover is that you need to go out, buy a flat cap, pipe and slippers to look right in one. ;) Especially the 75 on steroids. Supposed to be a decent vehicle though. Jeff's got the V6 estate and it's well built.

This thread has got me looking at V's again. Damn I miss my VXR8.

Stop messing around and drop an LS motor in your slicktop.
