I know it's dark right now but I could do with a picture of the underside of the front OEM bumper. It's the bit called the Engine Under Cover on page BF-6 (the body section of the manual) http://300zx-twinturbo.com/cgi-bin/manual.cgi?list=bf&dir=&config=&refresh=&direction=forward&scale=0&cycle=off&slide=6&design=default&total=46

I need the picture from below looking up.

Reason - I just had some respraying done and I don't think this bit has been put back properly. For example, there is what looks like some form of air-vent dangling down in front of the driver's side front whell but nothing matching it in front of the passenger's side front wheel.

TIA - Gio

Errrrrr that air vent sounds like one of the brake cooling ducts... I hate the engine under tray. Get rid of it its a pain in the arse!! :D This will also save on MASS :D Also you'll actually see any leaks rather than it collecting them all hehehe

OK thats my bad advice for the day over :D

CheerZ,

Andy

I was going to lose the under tray as well. Are there any disadvantages to this that anyone knows? Could you be more at risk of damage from debris?

Cheers

Mike

Sounds like you might be talking about the famous venturis. I understood these to be on the series 2 on and designed to aim air at the brakes and also to cause a pressure drop behind the intercoolers to improve air flow through them.

One of mine is cracked but not too badly. I guess they must do something cause they are not there for looks!

I remember reading that Z book and the guy there was recommending earlier cars getting them since they were not so expensive from Nissan and would improve brake cooling.

If you are lowered then for sure these are the first things to get crunched on a kerb

Just put all my front bumper back on 2 days ago after respraying it on the bottom. I seem to only have one vent on drivers side. 3 grooves on other to let air out from intercoolers.

Don't think it is to good a idea to loose the under tray due to too many puddles and sucking up water.

Thanks guys, just fyi mine's an old one - 1990 which I guess is a Series 1?

Devil - thanks, too. If I understood correctly, you have a different "thing" on the right (driver's) side than the other one (left / passenger)?

Mine looks like a scoop (sorry scoops, nothing personal) dropping maybe a couple of inches below the "Engine Under Cover". But just on the right / driver side. Nothing on the left / passenger.

Cheers - Gio

Mines a series 1 and has them on.

You can see it on the left under the intercooer intake. The other you cant see because of the black background.

But I noticed them when I was doing my torsion bushes. The chanel air to the back of the brake discs.
