Guys as we all know the GTO boys have always looked at our cars with envy :) Anyway there are some good guys in their community and I have been discussing ten of the best with a few of them and I have challenged them to a team competition. Yes there will be some big power cars but mostly it will be normal guys with a few mods looking to have a bit of fun. We are thinking a maximum of 8 entries per team to count to the points and we feel that to help it work we will allow Saturday times to count on the 1/4 and top speed run. This means if you only want to do boot camp you will still be part of the team (not handling as the course changes each day).

 

We are also thinking each entry to donate £10 into the pot and the winning team gets all the money for the charity of their choice. There is also optional £5 head to head pairs if anyone wants it but we will need to clarify fully later. The GTOOC charity is 'justgiving' and we can choose ours if this forum doesn't currently support one. For myself I already support help for heroes but am happy to go along with the rest.

 

I will share this on my facebook page and will keep the page updated with details.

 

Have a good think about this guys it's an opportunity to try your hand at 3 disciplines for very little money and see which of our cars is the best all rounder. I often see people suggesting that the zed gets very little respect from the rest of the community and this is a chance to show them how good this car can be. I really do think it will be a great weekend if we can get a decent team together. Yes I will be focussing on doing well but this will help to make it fun as well.

 

I will be there for the full weekend and can sort out details with Dave Naxton. I would truly like this to work and am more than happy to arrange the event however I would not be able to provide much support on the day. I think we could set up a team area to compete with the best so I am confident we can make it a brilliant weekend.

 

Yes it's early but can you start thinking about it now and any feedback/offers of help/entries will be appreciated.

I wont be a threat to anyone else taking part as Im unlikely to run below the 14 sec mark and I have never so far had an ET in excess of 100mph on the quarter mile

I have asked Noel to look at the car and see if he can wring a little more out of it.:yes: so who knows???

 

I will be interested to see what terminal speed I can achieve on the flying 1km.

I was timed at 134mph at Bruntingthorpe on the main straight but it probably took me more than 1 KM to get there.

 

I always see lots of bo***X on the internet about how fast(or not) a 300Zx can go.... but its always people talking about it on Autobahns etc where you can take 5 miles to build it up. Its a whole different issue when you only have a km and the timing is totally independent.... not someones mate on a GPS phone sat in the car!!

 

Anyway it should inspire everyone else to try hard and practice cos it wont look good afterwards if any of you do get beaten by a pensioner driving an NA:lol:

I really have no concept of time, TOTB is actually next weekend and as it stands my car requires the following:

 

Manual conversion

Complete new fuel system fitted

All the deletes whilst plenum is off

T3 manifold conversion

Twin T04E fitted

Fabricate new V-band turbo elbows

Blow-through MAF conversion

New mains & big end shells

New cambelt & tensioner

Complete remap

Worst case scenario, I may have to just stick some T2x-flanged turbos on the lump and make do with it :sad:

 

Rich: I can hopefully map your car next week but it may need to be the same day I have Pete's on the dyno, as I will be spending a lot of time in Bristol with Jimmer hating my very existence :laugh:

 

If anyone else is looking to have their car mapped before TOTB, I will do my utmost to cater for you, but I just can't guarantee it. The Saturday of TOTB is a possibility though as I won't be mapping Tom's that day now.

Yes it seems that they are having problems with their website and have suffered a few gremlins. I will keep an eye on things. Tom it might be easier to call Dave by phone mate.

Dave is happy for Noz to take my place, Noel he has asked that you get in touch with him.

I got my spectator tickets for Sunday on Friday, came second class post and only ordered the previous Saturday.

I know they like to wait till the last minute but in previous year each entrant could look at their entry online and this option has disappeared hence Dave's emails. Any real problems let me know and I will call him.

 

Ian has also asked about pit passes. Each entrant has a ticket for a genuine support vehicle. I am using mine but if anyone is not using theirs it would be good to let these go to the members who are helping the team on the day. So if anyone has one spare can they indicate this on here and any support workers who require one can get in touch :)
