Guys as we all know the GTO boys have always looked at our cars with envy :) Anyway there are some good guys in their community and I have been discussing ten of the best with a few of them and I have challenged them to a team competition. Yes there will be some big power cars but mostly it will be normal guys with a few mods looking to have a bit of fun. We are thinking a maximum of 8 entries per team to count to the points and we feel that to help it work we will allow Saturday times to count on the 1/4 and top speed run. This means if you only want to do boot camp you will still be part of the team (not handling as the course changes each day).

We are also thinking each entry to donate £10 into the pot and the winning team gets all the money for the charity of their choice. There is also optional £5 head to head pairs if anyone wants it but we will need to clarify fully later. The GTOOC charity is 'justgiving' and we can choose ours if this forum doesn't currently support one. For myself I already support help for heroes but am happy to go along with the rest.

I will share this on my facebook page and will keep the page updated with details.

Have a good think about this guys it's an opportunity to try your hand at 3 disciplines for very little money and see which of our cars is the best all rounder. I often see people suggesting that the zed gets very little respect from the rest of the community and this is a chance to show them how good this car can be. I really do think it will be a great weekend if we can get a decent team together. Yes I will be focussing on doing well but this will help to make it fun as well.

I will be there for the full weekend and can sort out details with Dave Naxton. I would truly like this to work and am more than happy to arrange the event however I would not be able to provide much support on the day. I think we could set up a team area to compete with the best so I am confident we can make it a brilliant weekend.

Yes it's early but can you start thinking about it now and any feedback/offers of help/entries will be appreciated.

Do they realise the gtr is 4wd? Gtst is rwd. Would love to see the skylines taken down a few pegs

If there's space I'll join in, don't want to take space a tt could use. if not I'll definitely come and watch

Should be packing a new engine by then...

Its all about taking part, mines a daily driver, all are welcome the more the merrier

There are 2 ways to approach TOTB:

1. It's a bit of fun.

2. In it to win it.

The Skyline boys appear to be taking approach #2.

As long as there are less than 10 people wanting to, or able to, take part, then it doesn't actually matter. Once there are more people than actual spaces, we would need to start thinking about putting the best team forward.

The fact other forums are taking notice of our machines is really good. Awareness & appreciation is on the up! I would suggest that those interested have at least a couple runs up the strip beforehand, even if just for shakedown purposes.

It's all trial and error I guess. You have achieved already what most of us can't, you've turned that old Datsun into something that would cost a mortgage to beat with a new stock car.

Does your mate with the GTO live in Basingstoke? A chap I know that runs a lighting company was going on about his mates GTO having had lots of work etc. Think he has a caterham.

I just realised he's probably talking about Andre. Yes he has done loads of work but wasn't at TOTB.

Dunno, chap I know is called rob owns fastlight

I wonder why there wasn't any big power supras at TOTB

There was!

They struggle getting the power down.

Didn't we all. Be great if the gtst boys want to play next year as well. Knew this would start some decent inter club rivalry. Great stuff. And plenty of time and interest between now and next year to have a real good team. Despite my ever growing addiction to motorsport, my car WILL remain fully road spec. Full interior, sound system etc. Although I do remember bob saying that years ago at totb.

Cheers

Danny

Reading this thread just makes me even more annoyed that I had so many problems when I tried to get my car mapped and ready for an event which I already payed to attend, and despite two emails and also texting Dave Naxton asking him as soon as I knew there was a problem whether we could come to some agreement (a part refund or a credit for next years event would have satisfied me) yet I was never given the courtesy of a reply.

In fact I was phoned the night before the event (missed the call) asking which team I was attending with and when I texted back explaining who I was and that I had emailed a couple of times because I couldnt compete, I never heard back.

So as it stands o far I had absolutely no response whatsoever which IMHO is very unprofessional on the organisers part so now I guess I have no option other than to try my credit card company and/or paypal for a refund.

Shame as it was obviously a great weekend and I am extremely peed off that my car let me down and I missed it.

Not for one minute that will stop me from competing next time - in fact I'm now more determined than ever!!

It's just a shame these organisers are so plain ignorant

Hi rich

I would keep trying Dave Naxton buddy im sure he will see you right mate. I know he and the totb guys were super busy organising things to the point i only got my tickets on the thursday before.

As far as next year mate your gonna love it.

Know what Ian, it's obvios to me that I missed a great weekend and and I'm really peed that I missed it. I want to attent next year (bet you are hooked now mate!)

Just I have given him plenty of time to reply and I know it's not his fault that I had the problems I did, and I don't think I am being unreasonable on finding some sort of compromise either - just sooner or later one loses faith and then you have to air your greavances I guess

I don't think any track day organisers are expected to process refunds so close to the date, if at all. It was only 3 days before the event when issues became evident, so although unfortunate, it's not really possible to demand a refund as that's just not how it works. Same with concert tickets and the like, if you can't attend, you need to sell them on or unfortunately lose out. The options were there to compete in another vehicle or just spectate & enjoy the show :)

Dave has always been incredibly helpful to me, 3 years running now. This year, he ensured personally that my support vehicle & pit boss were able to enter hours before I arrived. Top chap, given how busy he was.

I don't disagree there Noel - I had not demanded anything, I contacted the organisers three times to see if we could come to some sort of (unspecified) compromise or resolution. If they had offered me a credit against a future event for example I would have been happy enough with that.

My issue is that I have not had the courtesy of a response, even if said response had been 'tough luck mate'. That I think is a justified complaint.

Rich

My issue is that I have not had the courtesy of a response,

I have a similar issue. I emailed on monday to let him know that I had been given an award in error. And to point out that my being shown as 2nd on the handling results was wrong as well.

I offered to post the award on to its rightful owner.............................

No response as of today.

OK. Today I have politely emailed Dave Naxton once again to see if he has any suggestions regards my problem, and also mentioned your issue as well Pete.

Hopefully this time I will get a reply

Rich

I for one have had a brilliant TOTB experience 3 years running. Mainly thanks to you sorting things out for me at the 11th hour.

Appreciated :)

Expect the same next year, my planning skills are legendary. In a bad way :shifty:

Cheers,

Noel.

I for one have had a brilliant TOTB experience 3 years running.

i used the "contact" form on the website??

Anyway here are the two little wrong credits I was awarded.Race number B35

In the handling results I am shown on the lie results wth a 40s time.....that wasnt my time. Best I did was a 48s run.

At the results ceremony I was awarded a trophy for best 60ft time of 1.7s...... I wish!!!!

That time was on a red light ticket so not valid.

I will post the award on to its rightful owner if you email me their details. My Email is pmaczc@madasafish.com

Hi there Dave.

Maybe there is a misunderstanding then, so to clarify:

I can confirm I have an email reply from you yesterday to the email that I sent Saturday. This one says to contact Straightliners HQ.

I do not have a reply to the email I sent to the same address (dnpvaleting) on Friday 25th, though both are showing in my sent items and were both sent from the same address. Also I do not have an 'undelivered notification'

My original contact was on Weds 23rd by filling in the contact us form on the TOTB website - I assumed this would go to you however and if I am incorrect then I apologise. However I received no reply whatsoever to that message, whoever it does go to ignored me.

I was phoned on Saturday 26th from a mobile ending 2266. I missed that call - however I txt back the same evening at 8:04pm 'Hi I missed your call. Is it urgent? Rich.'

Received at 21:06 same evening 'It was about what your car wqas and what team your in for TOTB'

Replied the next morning 'Hi is that Dave Naxton? I emailed you twice last week to explain the piston rings failed on my 300zx when it was being remapped and I would be unable to attend and asked how we could resolve this. I had no reply yet. Rich'

If this is not your mobile number, once more I apologise. But it is still the fact that whoever made that call/text to me has not responded since.

I don't feel you are being 'hung drawn and quartered' as you say, it is true and fair to say I had no response to my queries until my last email
