fog bulbs

I'm gonna be fitting hid's for my dipped beams.....but what do I do about the front fogs? they are old school yellowy colour...do I need another hid kit or is it just a specific bulb required?

Featured Replies

I tried a few different smd bulbs in the front fogs for matching whiteness, not really happy with any, get yourself some more H3 HID's and fit, they will then be identical to the dipped and they light up the sides so you can then see all the dog muck on the pavement .

They do require an extra hole drilling so be aware it's not a straight fit but IMO, well worth it. I did a How-To on it a while ago.

The question is, what do you actually want your front fog lamps to do.......?

If you wish them to function effectively in bad weather, then do not even think of going HID! Bright white light will just be reflected off the fog and back into your face - whereas the more traditional yellow should shine properly through rain/drizzle/mist/fog as they are supposed to do....

...However if you want them to supplement your driving lights, then go for the conversion. There is a very good reason that the likes of Osram give their so called "all weather" bulbs a yellowish hue - I know what I would go with...

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

 Of course, I should listen to my "Zelders"

:devil2: But they're yellow!!, don't u want cool daytime running lights that don't make your car look dated?

 Safety first! Don't be so impetuous...and you don't wanna be drilling holes with your clubby hands....

:devil2: Quick swap out for led's then, no flaffing...job done! keep the yellows in the boot!
