Hi All,

I have had my 300ZX LWB Auto to Manual for 8 years now. Its been off the road and stored in my garage for 7 years mainly because I had a bad experience with a mechanic called Ryan from ZTEC. I lost faith having spent a large amount of money for Ryan to trash my car. The last straw was when I went over a humped backed bridge and the lower cross member dropped off the mounting studs because the lower front suspension cross member had not been bolted back on (after a auto to manual conv.) and it was just sitting on the threaded studs!! I thought it was going to end horribly, but luckily I managed to stop. I considered selling the car, thinking that the Zed is a mother to work on and trying to find a good mechanic that was prepared to work on them and do a good job was a non starter. It started to get me down, I tried to learn as much as I could about the car and how it worked and thought about going down the route of doing everything myself. The trouble is I am not a mechanic and have a pretty full on job and I don't really have time to get involved with any major projects outside of work. I missed my car, I missed driving it and most of all I missed how it made me feel :). So I started spending hours on the net trying to find someone I could trust to work on my car. Its not like owning a BMW. Until recently I had a BMW 645 Conv, if anything went wrong with it it went to the local BMW dealer and got sorted. Not so with the Zed. I took it to the local Nissan dealer, anyone would think that Nissan had never made it. They said they could not look after it because it was an imported car.

Anyway, to cut a long storey short, I found Jimmer from PowerZed, he has taken on my car and is sorting it for me. I am told the guy is a legend and from my experience with him so far I am highly impressed. My faith in the car is slowly being restored and I am looking forward to being reunited with my Zed and rekindling my love affair for this car.

Welcome to the club mate - and thank you for your support in subbing too....

You certainly cannot go wrong with Jimmer looking after your car; him and JeffTT from Zedworld are the country's gurus when it comes to the 300zx, so your Z will certainly be in safe hands.

As for Nissan, they will use the old "import" argument as an excuse; because given the age of the ZX now, all of their current mechanics were in nappies when the car was a current model:wink:

Good luck with your Z; once it's back to normal, you'll certainly be loving the car once more!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Welcome to the club and sorry to hear about your previous experience with said so called specialist, with many other stories about the guy in the past im surprised he got away with it for so long.

You wont go wrong with Jimmer he will sort it for you and the Nissan garages make me laugh, imported or not the UK version is the 300zx and the same car mechanically, as Richard stated none of them around now have been trained to work on one lol

Great to read that you have regained your passion for the Z32. Look forward to seeing it in the metal, in the meantime

got any photos of her to share?

There are national and local Club meets organised throughout the year. Here is an event not that far from you in August,

it's great fun and lovely location to meet up. Hope to see you there!

Indeed, being a good friend, I will always support Jimmer, but he really is a legend with these cars. He's meticulous and takes real pride in his work. The Z community are glad that Ztech and SWZed no longer exist, we don't hear of any horror stories from 'Z specialists' so much anymore - just legacy stuff that keeps popping up now and again. The community is well served by Jimmer at PowerZed and also Jeff at Zedworld.

Cheers guys,

Its nice to see so many fellow Zedder's out there. I was starting to feel a bit isolated. Thanks for the information and support and I am very much looking forward to meeting you all in the future :)
