Chanced across this video on youtube of Tony Pond attempt at a solid 100mph average around the Isle of Man TT course, bear in mind it was filmed in 1990 so a bit naff, but boy can this guy drive, we all have fun on the road where it permits but on what looks lime B road size and condition he has no fear, 150 mph down straights and 120 mph round the corners!! bumps and rises, dips and curves the guy seems so cool at the end like he had been for a paper down the shops, very Nigel Mansell esk with his down play, the amazing thing is he is driving a road car with just slicks on .... a Rover 800 Vitesse (skip the first minute blerb)

Enjoyed that ! Had an old 820 myself for a few years. Never had any issues with it.

Cracking find.

Alan........

Great video Jeff - thanks, I enjoyed that....

Great video, that bloke is either very brave or very stupid driving a rover at those speeds!

....Or just a very good driver... I guess, seeing as Tony Pond rallied in a Metro 6R4, he was contracted to do that run in a Rover!

Be good to see it done today in a modern high performance car though - just to see how much quicker (or not) it could be done!!

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

It's been done. I think it was Mark Higgins driving a Subaru. Scary

These days you'd never get there, how often do we see people that don't notice or cba to make adequate room for emergency services vehicle.
