Can anyone source a good pair of targa sills??? I bought used a few times and they still leak.

My car is soaking inside and I'm worried it's rusting under the carpets now.....

You'll have to show that trick. My targas never come off anyway so sounds like a good idea

I have it on good authority that gram nut oil smeared on the seals make add them swell a little and seal better, not tried it myself though.

Tbh any sort of oil should help 're-invigorate' the seal, I guess nut oil would just be the least messy/nicest smelling type to use :)

Apparently it's more to do with the blocked water channels inside the seals that make them leak..... That and you have to re seal them to the pillars but eh I've tried all that.

I have used a silicone based gel on my corvette t tops before, you just have to be careful whats compatible. I also have some silicone stuff i use to seal the orings on my underwater camera gear that might work

Weld them on and make them permanent? :)

I actually thought of that. But if I was to do that I'd have to fabricate something so the roof is lighter. Might aswell benefit from the weld. Should increase rigidity too.

well so far I have tried, prettey much all of the above (exept welding everything shut) and have had 2 sets of 2nd hand seals (both assured to not leak by the sellers) and this week I gave in.

In my opinion I think in the end it depends how much you love ya car and weather you intend to keep it long term. We have got to a point that the car has to be disconnected every night or it puts its own headlamps on if it rains and then drains the battery (which in turn send the alarm off in panic mode and wakes all the neighbours) or just blows the horn contsantly.

So this week I stripped the interior out and the carpets and drained gallons of water out of the carpets alone, I have now decided to bite the bullet and ordered brand new T Top seals off nissan at the scarey price of £652.00 :-o ( the car is too good for this water ingres to go on.

I will let you all know how it goes once they arrive next Friday.

OUCH .... I bought a full targa roof and door seal set from Courtesy Nissan in US a few years back, they were about £200+

The bleeding thing still leaked ! The solution is new seals and lots n lots of fine tuning and luck! ...or a slick top !!

Glad to hear that this storey is true... i called Z world a few days ago and was told the same thing.... we love the car way too much to let water kill it so I think that price is ok to save one more of these fabulous cars.

I have tried absolutely everything and still my roof leaks, its that bad that ive had to use plastic bin bags on the seats to catch the water, and if you get a heavy down pour, you need to empty the bag of water the next day or it will drain into the car, its shocking just how much water that bag catches, id dread to think how much water is sloshing around in the carpet that i haven't managed to get via the bag route, or how bad it would actually be at the moment if i do not use the bags. ive found 3 locations where it leaks.

The rear seal as the targa seal meets the door seal at the rear of the door, and the front join between the targa and the A Piller, and a new one is the bolts on the targa glass its self, where the release mech is bolted to the glass, this is now leaking on the passenger side.

I have tried jeffTT's fix of sticking the rubber back down, but it seems that the metal is just too slippery for the silicon sealant to even grip on to, when it does grip, the edges still lift, i moved the seal via the holding screws at the edges in a bit to put more pressure onto the seals when they touch each other, hoping the added pressure would help seal, but still leaks, i then tried taking the seals off, giving them a wash in the sink (they were dirty as hell, well the water was after), put them back on, sealed them again using sealant and they still leaked, but even worse this time. i even took the door card off and adjusted the window so it pulls in tighter as the window comes up to full.

Nothing so far has sorted the issue out, its like the rubber is water soaked, if i squeeze it between my fingers, its like ringing out a cloth, it just leaks water. i think my seals have positively had it and are no longer water resistant any more.

Its actually driving me mental.

Whilst you are sorting this out, can you not cover the cabin outside with a plastic sheet and tied/clipped to say the wheels?

the bin bag actually collects the water very well, the issue comes when driving, its a constant drip and if you break, then it just covers the right hand pod as the water then seems to just pour in. its like the targa rubber is water logged. i think i actually have a small pond at the moment as it rained last night, ill grab a photo and show you how ive got it set up to collect the water, one sec.

yes the front one isnt seated correctly, but believe it or not, as it is like that, is how it lets in the least amount of water.

The rear as you can see, is leaking right at the join of the targa seal and rear end of the door seal, so not sure how to even get that to seal up any more, its like that on both drivers and passenger side.

Looks like the rubber has deteriorated to the point it has turned into a sponge  mine leaks but only a little in comparison to your pond lol.

Did your old zed leak as much?

No where near as much, it pretty much pours in when driving in the rain, its terrible. the koi pond isnt as full as i thought it would be, the rain must of been quite light last night, when you get a major down pour, ill grab a photo then, already had to kick a bunch of pikeys out of it for using it as a swimming pool when its really bad.

readjusting the door-windows may help if it''s really leaking through the window-seal, but many ttops are actually not leaking through the window-seal but through the seal/strip on top of the ttop.

Remove the inside trim of the ttop and drive through a carwash (or have someone spray water over the ttops) to see if this is the case.

I have a square washing up tub on my

Seat think it's a posh version if your bin bag. Does the job.

Posh git lol, though im thinking of going for a pond liner, and filter set up, get some lilly-pads in there.

Well, an update..... After cringing at spending £670 this last week L 300 TT now has brand new T top seals and new T top drain hoses.

After waiting a week for the parts and then a day of lots of swearing fitting them (the T top seals are easy but the drain hoses are a complete nightmare) the car has been left out in a lot of rain over the last 3 days and has had absolutely no water ingress at all.

Pleased does not even begin to explain how happy I am, Money well spent???? ABSOLUTELY WITHOUT A DOUBT.
