Yes, just bide your time and keep looking, don't rush. There are good ones out there, and in the club that come up

for sale. Your trade should help keep you from making a poor choice. Autos can be converted to manuals successfully,

so don't discount a sound one. What's your budget?

Remember mate good things come to those that wait you can usually find a near if not perfect example of a zed on this forum but you do get the occasional gem on ebay

£5000 is the max really, I would consider an auto but the cost of conversion must be considered, I would do the swap myself just need the parts.

Gearbox conversion. Is easy enough budget between£350 to 600 for the parts still gives you a good budget for a nice z

What's involved regarding tha auto tranny ecu? Is that tied in with engine ecu in any way? Does removing it cause any engine running issues??

Nope no need to touch it, ecu's are seperate. You just need to follow the guides for wiring in the reverse and neutral switches

When I brought mine we looked about through the usual places. Found about 10 called them and went out to veiw 5 that day. I think it was the second or third one I viewed I thought yup this is the one.

With that kind of budget I'm surprised your struggling. Although a lot of zeds are hibernating ATM not taxed not moted and their owners will sell them in spring when the prices are better.

Atleast your finding these problems and not tolerating them as it would be a spiral downward from there...

Exactly can't start with a rotten body! The last one I viewed supposedly had no welding done to it, when I got there it had plates over the sills from midway down the car to rear arch and poorly welded ones at that! I don't Mind if it has mechanical issues but a solid body is a must for me! Search continues.

Mate for 5k you'll get a really nice one. Welcome to the club btw.

There has been some real nice ones on here lately - You missed a steal, Paul C sold a lovely blue one (which was then crashed by the new owner :(

Is there any particular requirements such as 2 seater, 2+2, TT or NA, vert, modified or body kit, colour etc?

thanks,

Lee

2+2 TT manual preferred, auto considered, no bodykit, original condition with maybe a few mods here and there. Maybe it is just the wrong time of year, any colour really, I saw them pics of the crashed zed, she did look a fine example pre-crash.

You need to view a lot of dogs before you find your prince .

You should expect a real beaut for 5k, mine was only a few more hundred above that, good look and be patient.

I keep mine in Basildon if you want to have a look at a good example

Paul

Would 6 former keepers put you off buying a zed??

It would make me *a lot* more cautious. Some of them are up to 24 years old, so could have got

through that many owners. History and servicing records would be key. I would want to know that

the car had been looked after and money spent on it as needed, rather than ragged and then passed

on.

There are a monumental amount of dogs a out as has been suggested and some dreadfully modified ones; bide your time. £5k should buy you a really nice one. I'd happily pay £5k all day long for the right one. Probably more if I'm honest.

I can't seem to look at the advert as I can't view it on my tablet, but have a look at the red UK car, 2nd from the bottom...

Done a bit of digging and that one may be sold:

Might be worth contacting KGF as they also sold another UK car:

To see if they could source one for you.
