ok my car is getting detonation but why . just been out in it tonite safty boost kicked in again so pulled over and restarted it again boost back up to normal .so drove home just at normal speed limit normal rpm and had the window down could here the enginge detting even driving normal. I thought det was only when boost was high .so car is running 14psi chip from z centre air box removed and cat back system and uprated plugs think there heat range 7 so what going on help please

How old are the plugs? Could be worth changing and check the gapping?

Also change your fuel filter only about £8

plugs were done when the boost and chip was done few months ago only driven the car a few times just had a new cam belt I wounder if the timing isn't correct

Dan give me a call tomorrow bud.Possibly a bad connection or fuel related..

the fuel is fresh today and other day to fuel filter is new to if the timing is set wrong could this cause it

I drove home slow was Harley boosting atall and I could here the cracking sound of the pinging/detonation so if the boost level was low and it was doing it then surley its not a high boost issue ?

Exactly that, I think your either running lean to vac leak or your timing is out. Could even be the TPS. Sort it out quick though, else your next thread will be "my engine blew up"

Det is caused by(amongst other things,Timing etc) running lean, not boost. A normally aspirated engine can suffer from Det just the same..............

Are you using VPower in it ?

timing belt has just been changed didn't have a issue before that from what I can remember never went into safety boost I drove the car of a day and didn't get safely boost but went out in the nite colder dence air it happed that 2 times now in 2 day and both times of a nite

the plugs are good ones ngk heat range 7 was told that was rite to use when running 14psi remember this all happened after the cambelt change

Do you have a timing light.It may be worth checking

Also check connection to the knock sensor as it may be a bad connection under load.Check ptu and cas connections also

going to have a look at the timing today to see were he set it to. I don't think its a bad connection as I could here the pinking/knocking when driving slow with window down so the sensor is deffo picking that up and triping safety boost

did you use an oem belt or a blueprint?? jeff did a thread and the 1st 2 lines were correct and the last one was out by about 3mm so this would make one bank fire slightly different to the other??

he did the cam belt so I take it he used a oem

more likely to be a blueprint one. he would just get it from his normal part suppliers, doubt he would go to Nissan imo

after all the issues I had when I got the car back who knows whats wrong now
