A friend sent me this picture today. Clearly it's photoshopped but I personally think it looks quite good (certainly different). So which one of you out there would know how to go about making a light panel like this one?

Looks like.theres a join in the.middle,.that should make them.cheaper to.make

I remember an old picture from a couple of years ago where somebody had put S13 lights in I think, or could of been S14's either way I'm sure they were from an S body. they looked really nice and as far as I know it wasn't photo shopped.

But I could of just imagined it. bit like Car.Mad's cup holder venture

I think it's less of a join and more just a photoshop blemish.

What rear bumper is on the original pic? It looks like the sides sit a little lower than the oem bumper.

OEM bumper, the car is slammed.

Yeah, I'm still saying that's just the way it's been edited. Nobody would want a join in the middle.

I'm just looking into converting my 300zx rear lights.

I like the 99 spec but don't like the black lines that run horizontal in them.....

I've put on a few posts that have the conversion info tonight "frosted Perspex - stick this in ebay" I think this looks gorgeous and will grab some now for it (that's for the inner lense).

I'm just trying to see what's the best looking out of 3mm and 5mm..... and possibly putting a LED SMD strip in there instead of bulbs as this frost will create a uniform spread .... hopefully.

Yeah I will get round to it, give me chance it's only been like 3 years

Personally I think without the lines they look bare, kind of not a complete conversion job but it's down to personally taste at the end of the day.

Sure 3mm perspex will be fine, 5mm a touch thick and unnecessary.

You changing out the red and amber stock lenses, both for matching perspex/acrylic whatever ?

Not totally convinced without bench work whether you will still get uniform spread, ie not seeing the strips as any lights shining directly at the frost will be kind of visible if you know what I mean, especially if you're going to be using some brighter red strips for the brake light part, the way to avoid this is shine back or shine from below/above therefore still lighting that chamber, reflective aluminium tape may help you here.

If I look at my Z like this....

.....I see a rear end like that. :)

Lol Funkysi.... legend

Phatmusch... You're probably right mate with the arse being that long.

On standard '99s I'd still be fussy as the centre panel breaks it up.

Cheers for the other advice. Been looking at some YouTube vids on how to light it.

I think you're right on the ali tape if it's edge lit. I think I'll do a direct smd led strip with red leds for brakes and yellow for the indicators.

I want it looking like the newer knightrider series kitt so you can't see the leds and the whole bar is diffused out.

This is what I mean but without the scanning effect....

Here's my fave, love the first post as well

Can anyone find contact information for any manufacturers of aftermarket light clusters? I'm finding it next to impossible.
