After a hard but fairly successful season of events Bob has dropped the car off with me for a major makeover and revision.

As before I just have the rolling shell.

Jimmer at Power Zed has already removed the engine and box.

He will be doing a strip down /inspect/replace routine on the Kyle Puckett engine.

Bob has dropped the gearbox of at Advanced Motorsport engineering at silverstone for a similar strip/inspect/replace routine.

The rest arrived at my place last weekend .... looking a little worse than when it left in the spring!!!!

The brief from Bob is long and detailed.................. but it starts with a reinstate of the 99 spec front with splitter and the TwinZ rear bumper.

I already obtained a good used 99 spec from Mikey Bean and I have a new Twinz rear from Mark Derbys group buy.

I will get a new sheet of ally and make another front splitter. good job I kept the template!!

There are numerous detail improvements on the schedule too. More details to follow!

Probably the most important/significant is a new custom loom for the car. Over the development period of the car numerous items have been added by several people. The result now is a total mess of wiring everywhere with no one personknowing exavtly what is joined to what!!!

This winter I am lucky that our new race day team member Paul is helping at my place with all the work.

Im simply getting too old for some of the harder physical jobs needed.

In addition the newly formed Bodymech team of "Boldy" and "Manta V8" are doing the panel fitting and giving the whole shell a fresh coat of paint inside and out.

so Im sure everyone will be adding to the thread as they get their quota of jobs done.

So a few pics meantime and can you spot the brake problem???

I have also highlighted some fittings that need "improving"

Check out the rats nest of wiring too!!

Ah right, it's something I have to address as the limiting factor brakes wise for me will soon become the grip up front (even the stock brakes can lock up at 60 odd) rather than the calliper, it seems sensible to add more grip to the better brakes but I don't want to go too large and turn it into a blood hound, as mine is a road car first and foremost.[/

If you're locking up the front it's more likely to be poor suspension set up and tyre choice rather than size

Slowly getting there as pix show :)

have got some testing planned for this Friday afternoon just really on brakes then if all is well Mallory Park next Wednesday morning. If testing goes well then I'll be doing a few sprints/hillclimb/drag over the next month or so try and get some seat time.

For the first time ever I will be naming my car but first let's get some testing out the way then I will christen it :)

That's a good jump forward in progress! Is your new loom all done as well? Looking forward to seeing what those turbos can do

yes the new loom is pretty much complete :) we decided to remove all the gauges and feed everything into the Racepak which has been slightly problematic and of course i wanted to remain road legal so we've had to add some more but getting there and nearly good to go. I'm looking forward to seeing those turbos in action too! And you know me a 100 shot of NOS always helps put a smile on the face lol.

And if you think that's mad Andy Forest's scoobie has a 300 shot!!!! No wonder he manages an 8 second quarter :)

That,s looking sweeet , those wheels fill the arches out very nicely :tt1:

Fired it up for the first time and here it is on video. I couldn't stay and they still had a lot of work to do so I doubt it hit the dyno today so most likely next week.

If it goes and handles as well as it looks and sounds I reckon you're onto a winner Bob :bow:Thanks for keeping the thread updated and giving us all a little insight into this whole project. Awesome stuff!!

The car is on the way to the dyno and hopefully will be sorted tonight. All being well it should have something posted up by Dan on facebook :)

I will be at Mallory Park tomorrow morning for a little bit of testing (hopefully).

I am booked into the MLR sprint at Blyton Park this Saturday 31st May and if all goes well I will also do the Sunday 1st June and have a go with the GTROC and Porche 964 sprint :)

Clearly I don't believe in the phrase 'choose your battles wisely' lol.

I feel for those non Facebook users (z32bolt) that can't join is on this milestone! :p

It isn't just me haha. For every missed zed pic I avoid 100 bellends, so it still works out ok.

:rofl::rofl:..So true. Anyway ime a bellend avoider myself and i was able to watch the vid Joely boy:tongue:

Looking great Bob and the dash looks great flocked, would like to see more pics of that when you get the chance, still in two minds, but with a centre gauge pod in the dash, it would look so much neater if it is flocked.

Throwing yourself in at the deep end :) However, it's not that long in the grand scheme of things till TOTB and best to get as many teething issues ironed out asap as it's all been taken apart and put back together again with several changes. Keep us updated!

First run on dyno

Mallory was tough couldn't see out of the windscreen (not good on a new and very wet track with DZ03s on). Took me four laps to find the exit pit lane lol.

We learnt a few bit unfortunately my brand new just fitted Z1premium short shifter disintegrated!!! What a waste of money that was!!

So car is now going back to AME for a bit of work so ready for Saturday hopefully.

Wastegate boost only just under 500bhp at 7psi but will probably leave it there till after the weekend.

Some pix later maybe Pete has a few but the car looked great.

no mate. We were putting back on the trailer before I had a chance.:innocent:

I can confirm tho that it does look great. :thumbup1:

Its not radically different to previous versions but its just sharper all round.

Dan and his guys at AME have done some very nice work on the installation of everything.

With a little more "shakedown" and seat time by Bob this will be a very fast car, round any track and up the 1/4 mile too.

So the so called premium shifter is in the same category as my sh***y throttle bodies from the same source:thumbdown:

Have spent the day at Blyton Park sprinting with the MLR. Times were poor but my first real shakedown and low on power so it's to be expected I guess. Came knowing I had no alternator so been having to charge battery and a overheating issue which needs sorting so it's been tough. Nothing has fell off and the car feels well balanced and behaved very well. Tyres not ideal for sprinting lol. I am working on my gear changes very difficult with the dog box but have learnt a lot but still a lot to do. Car looks great!!!! Going to do a couple more runs tomorrow morning then head home and try to enjoy the five hour drive :-(
